Except for his excessive swearing, Ashe felt like the Boy Scout Beryl always called Saffron.

Ashe blocked a punch. His motions were not near as fluid as Saffron’s friends, but he was vibrating with force. Thinking about it, I could see him and Saffron getting along. They both valued family and enjoyed hitting things.

If Saffron’s life wasn’t so complicated, would he be glued to my side like Ashe? He’d threatened me, warned me not to hurt Professor Garnet when we first met. He’d given Ashe the same warning last night. I hadn’t thought anything of it then, but now….

The spiky-haired mage began walking Ashe through some fancy martial arts move I didn’t understand, and soon the two guys took up all of Ashe’s attention. A tap on my knee had me sliding out the door, Ashe none the wiser.

“That was brilliant,” I said to Saffron, once I walked a few steps down the hall.

Instead of answering me, Saffron pinned me against the wall and captured my lips. As his tongue snaked into my mouth, he slid his hand up the inside of my thighs to cup my sex.

“You didn’t text,” Saffron mumbled against my lips.

Jolts of heat shot into my core as he flexed his hand.

“I didn’t text,” I repeated breathlessly. I looked for my magic mixing with his, but only his banana yellow swirled around us. “Saffron, my magic’s not in you, and you don’t need to protect Professor Garnet. We don’t need to do this.”

Saffron squeezed my sex again and filled my mouth with his tongue to keep me from talking. I let him, parting my legs and enjoying every minute of the Greek God’s fucked up attention. A voice in the hall startled us. Saffron released me, only to grab my hand and pull me further down and into an empty lounge.

He wedged a chair under the door handle before backing me up against one of the tables. With one arm, he lifted my ass onto the smooth surface and pulled up my skirt. With the other, he tore my tie from my uniform and ripped open the first few buttons.

I hissed as he kissed down my neck and began rolling the skin at its base between his teeth.

“Saffron, I said I needed to talk,” I half protested.

We could also talk after.

Saffron sucked my skin into his mouth and nibbled. His erection twitched once against my stomach before he stopped and held my gaze.

“If this isn’t what you want, say the word,” Saffron said, a hint of anger flickered his glowing yellow rims. “I’ve been hard for you for two days.” His eyes narrowed. “Professor Garnet said once your magic left my system, it would calm. But it hasn’t.” He tensed, his voice gained a hard edge. “Nothing’s calmed since you got caught on the rail in the cafeteria a month ago.” He growled. “I have duties, obligations. I’ve been engaged to Mercedes since I was two years old.” He gripped my shoulders, his face hard. “And knowing all of that, I still find you poking at my thoughts. I can’t go an entire day without feeling this need to check on you, to see your adorable little face.”

He surged forward, his tongue filling my mouth while his dick pressed painfully hard into my stomach. Pulling back, he cupped my cheek. “Let me fuck you until all of this is out of my system.”

My heart sank as my chin trembled. Saffron was engaged. I was ruining his life, and he wanted to fuck me to get me out of his system?

Before I could respond, the door rattled. The chair holding it closed went flying along with a good portion of the door frame. Ashe burst into the room.

“How dare you fucking use her,” Ashe bellowed.

He swung at Saffron, but the Greek God ducked and moved forward lightning fast. Ashe tilted his body to the side, and Saffron’s punch to his gut slid off to the left, putting the blonde mage off balance. With two fists, Ashe hit Saffron’s back, sending him staggering to the ground.

I bit my knuckles and shook my head. I didn’t want this.

As Saffron regained his balance and turned, I jumped off the table and put myself between the two. At my back, Ashe froze while Saffron shook out his arms and gingerly tested his back.

“If I wasn’t around,” I said, my voice shaking. “You two would be friends. You’re both trying to be happy while doing the right thing.” A tear slipped down my cheek, and I clenched my fists. “I just need help and not the sexual kind. I don’t want to be the cause of this.”

I walked toward the door, hopping over some damaged wood, staying as far away from Saffron as I could. My heart thudded against my rib cage and I scrubbed at my salty cheeks. Everything I touched turned into a mess.

Ashe and Saffron still faced each other, ready to throw a punch if the other moved.

When I reached the doorway, Saffron’s two friends blocked my exit.

“Aphy,” Saffron said.

“Don’t say a fucking word to her,” Ashe growled.

I pretended I didn’t hear either of them and glared at the two blocking my way. After a heartbeat, they shuffled to the side. The moment I hit the hall, I started running.
