It was a short walk from the waterfall to the pack house, and before I realized it, we were heading up the walkway. We call it a pack house, but it’s really more of a complex with how large it is. Each ranked family has their apartment on separate floors, and we have an extra floor for some of the single warriors, house staff, and guests. The ground floor is all meeting areas and offices. It’s a pretty typical setup as far as pack houses go.

We soon arrived at the Gamma floor. “I guess this is where I leave you?”

“Yeah.” Noah looked around to make sure no one else was around. “But maybe I can have a good night kiss before you go?”

“Yes, definitely.” I pulled his face down and touched my lips to his. He grabbed my ass and pulled me closer to him as he deepened the kiss. I could do this all night if only I could sneak into his room without getting caught.

“Holy fuck! My eyes, what the hell am I even looking at!?”

Noah and I quickly pulled apart.

“Jordan, you’re still up,” Noah spoke calmly but swallowed hard as he waited for Jordan, our Alpha Heir, to speak again.

“No…” He held up a finger. “Don’t say anything…I was never here, and I know nothing about this.” He looked upset, but as he started back up the stairs, he smiled at us. “For the record, though, I totally called this…took you guys long enough, but Cristian’s gonna kill you two when he finds out about this…might wanna wash up before he smells what you two have been up to. Also, he was coming up right behind me, so best wrap up whatever is going on here fast…I would hate for him to find you shirtless and with your hands all over his little sister.” He turned around still laughing, “Remember, I know nothing, and I’ll deny ever having seen this.”

“That fucker.” Noah chuckled as he stared at Jordan walk away.

“I guess this is goodnight then, I’m not up for an interrogation from my brother, so I better head upstairs.” I gave him one last peck and rushed up the stairs pushing past Jordan on my way up.

I made it to my room with enough time to lock my door and pulled out my pajamas before I heard a knock at my door.

“Gema, you back yet?” My brother called from behind the door.

“Yeah, I’m just changing…about to go to sleep.”

“Alright, I’ll see you in the morning, then…night.”

“Yeah, good night.” I breathed out a sigh of relief and headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. Afterward, I drifted off to sleep to thoughts of Noah and wondered if he was thinking of me, too.

2 Family

GEMA

I woke up early the next morning to get ready. We were having a big family breakfast with just the ranked families before we sent the boys off for training. I wanted to make sure I looked my best for Noah, so I put on a cute sundress and curled my hair.

“Gema” I heard my mother call through my door. “Ya estás lista?” (Are you ready?)

I opened the door, “Si, Mami. I’m ready.”

“What are you all dressed up for?” My brother walked by and flicked my hair.

“It’s just a dress.” I rolled my eyes and shoved him.

“Basta, parecen niños chiquitos! (Stop, you’re acting like children!)” My mother fussed. "Now, let’s go, your father’s already waiting for us upstairs."

We were having breakfast on the Alpha floor as they had a large dining table where we’d gather for holidays and special meals. I walked in and hugged my dad, “Buenos días, Papi.” Then I went around greeting everyone else. Most of our pack was of Mexican descent, so hugs and kisses were expected all around. When I got to Noah, I hugged him quickly, but he held onto my hand and gave me a knowing look. “What, no kiss for me?” He barely whispered, so no one else would hear. My eyes widened, but before I could answer, my best friend, who also happened to be Jordan’s sister, pulled me away.

“Your hair looks awesome today! Are we still on for shopping this afternoon? I want to go to that new makeup place, and maybe get a mani-pedi. What do you think?”

“Yeah, sounds great.” Jasmine was a year younger than me, but we’d grown up together and easily bonded over our shared lives. She was really more like a sister to me.

“I still need to find something to wear for your birthday party. I was thinking something red or maybe even orange.”

“I’m sure you’d look good in any color.” She had beautiful caramel skin and long brown curls. In looks, she took more after her mom than her dad, but all three siblings were a good mix of their Black mom and Latino dad.

“Come on, sit by me.” She grabbed my arm and led me over to the table. Noah followed us and took the chair to my right. Everyone else trickled into their seats, and we started passing around the food.

“Are you two as excited as Jordan is about this training?” Luna Christina asked.
