Page 43 of Sweet Temptation
Ace brings a snarl to his lips. "That goes for Bailey, too," he barks. Jared shifts in his seat as Damien's glare holds him in place. Yes, I may always have an angry look and my brother may always smile, but when he's angry, he's scarier than I am.
Grabbing Jared's teeth, I drop them on his lap with a grin. "Might need some false ones now." Not that he will breathe after I'm done with him, but I don't voice that. Jared grabs his teeth with a scowl before he stomps out of Ricky's. Sam laughs, but his smile doesn't reach his eyes.
"You okay?" Damien whispers, placing his hands on Scarlet's hips. I narrow my eyes at their encounter, but I keep my mouth shut because that's a conversation for later.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Bailey make her way toward us. "That was amazing. I love you, Scarlet." Bailey smirks.
Then she presses a kiss on her friend's cheek. Scarlet shoots a smile that doesn't reach her eyes, which means she's thinking about her revenge. I eye Damien with a question in my eyes, and his returning look tells me to shut up.
"Take her home," Ace demands. Damien wraps his arms around Scarlet and brings her into his arms before heading for the exit of the bar. Bailey watches Scarlet, and I see the fire build in her eyes as she follows him. "Bailey! No!" Ace yells.
Sam and I follow as the blonde clicks her heels, following the disgusting man we just tortured. A man that will be dead come tomorrow.
"Hey! You!" Bailey growls, grabbing Jared's coat in his hands and gripping him. We stand beside Ace as we watch and make sure she's okay.
"Which one are you?" he mumbles.
Her blue eyes burn with fire. "Bailey! And how fucking dare you touch both my friends! You fucking sick, you asshole," she yells, shoving him into the wall.
"I'm not supposed to be around you," he grumbles.
I watch the blonde with fire in her eyes as she takes her nails across his face, leaving scratches. "You touched Scarlet, and you broke Hanna!" She seethes. I notice Ace's hands are in fists as he watches her, anger fill his face as he watches Jared.
Oh, I get it. He feels something for this girl. I remind myself to torment him with jokes about falling for the Coach's daughter later.
"Yeah? She broke my dick!" Jared snarls, grabbing Bailey by the throat. Before I can even move, Ace is ahead of me and Sam as he pulls Bailey into his arms before socking Jared in the face again. I glance at Sam, who grins right back at me.
I know that look. It's the same look he gave me when I first introduced myself and told him who I was. He agrees with Damien and me, that Ace should become a made man sooner rather than later.
"Don't touch her!" Ace snarls, holding Bailey close to him. Jared wipes the smeared blood off his face as he stalks toward his car.
Bailey pulls out of Ace's grip, her hands shaking as she speaks. "I can take care of myself," she replies as she walks back into the bar. My mind clouds as I watch her disappear.
Wait. Bailey's here, and so was Scarlet… So where's Hanna? I leave the boys standing there as I follow Bailey back inside, my eyes scanning for my girl. She is mine. My girl. I may not be able to proclaim my love, but she belongs to me.
My eyes lock onto Hanna's dark brown hair as her lip trembles while she speaks to Bailey. Rushing forward, I stop beside them, worrying clouding my eyes. "Cinderella, what's wrong?"
She shoots me a smile as she wipes her mouth. The smile that doesn't reach her eyes, but I don't push. "Seeing teeth fall out of someone's lips made me nauseous," she replies. She saw that? I nod and pull her into my arms, shooting Bailey a smile.
Her comment is a lie, but I promise to get the truth out of her mouth at some point. Because I never took Hanna as a liar, and I don't plan to now. She will be truthful.
"Don't ever doubt Ace; he protects who he cares for," I mutter as I glance at the blonde.
Hanna spins around and stares at Bailey with a smile. "Ace, really?"
I won’t crush her happiness tonight, but I will have to tell her about my plans for Ace, and soon. Plans that will put this rich girl in danger. Ace won’t be able to have her; otherwise, her life will always be in danger. It's the same reason why Hanna is in danger, but I won’t let her go.
Bailey scowls and crosses her arms. "We aren't anything. He just… Well, Ace and I have been hanging out a bit," she lies. Yet I don't call her out on her lies. I won't.
I nod, then pull Hanna back into my arms. "You know, I'm glad you guys finally gave up your bitch act. You were meant to be." She smiles at us. If only she knew the truth behind why Hanna will never truly be mine.
"I was not having a bitch act," I reply, my eyes narrowing at Bailey.
"What do you call telling Hanna you wanted to be enemies?" She snickers. It was to keep her safe. From my world. From me.
I roll my eyes and eye Hanna with a smile.
"I didn't… Well, I wanted to be his friend because relationships were never on the table for me, but I learned very fast that I couldn't be in love with a friend…" She smiles softly.
