“Your forever,” Tempest said.

“She is,” Bam said, proudly, curling his arm around Everly’s shoulder.

“Hi, Tempest. I love your name.”

“Thank you,” Tempest said. “My mother chose the name because she said she had a feeling I was going to be like a storm blowing through wherever I went.”

Everly laughed. “I wish I’d thought of that. I have one that it would have fit perfectly. Handful does not even closely describe her.”

“I look forward to meeting her.”

“I bet you’ll be great friends! Emmalyn should be home in the next week or so… Christmas and all,” Everly said.

Daisy hurried over and they embraced. “Everybody you met at the bar the other night decided to stay home. They said you’d already be overwhelmed with all the adults vying for your attention, but they’re going to see you again real soon.”

“Aw, they should have come, I’d love to see them, too,” Tempest said.

“Half of us is enough at once. Maybe our generation will get together in a day or two,” Daisy promised.

“I’d like that,” Tempest said.

“Hello, sweetie,” Valerie said, stepping up and hugging Tempest.

“Valerie! I’m so glad you’re here,” Tempest said.

“I bet you are. Dinner with the parents turned into dinner with the whole clan,” Valerie said good-naturedly.

“It’s okay. I get it… curiosity and all,” Tempest said.

A tall dark-haired male approached her. His general demeanor was congenial and she had no indication that he was anything other than kind, but Tempest knew for a fact that he was not one to fear anything — he didn’t have to. It was also pretty obvious to her that he was feeling her out, trying to get a read on her. “Tempest, I’m Daniel. I’m Avaleigh’s mate.” Avaleigh waved from across the room where she sat with Daisy and another young woman.

“I’m pleased to meet you, Daniel.” Tempest raised her hand to give a little wave in Avaleigh’s direction. “Hi, Avaleigh.”

“I’ll take my turn to say hello later when everybody else has finally left you alone,” Avaleigh called out with a chuckle.

Tempest laughed.

“Where are you from?” Daniel asked.

“I’m from just about as south as you can go without being in the water,” she said, leaving out the fact that she was only a couple of hours from home. There was a lot of land south. South could mean anything…

“And your father is Dragon,” Daniel said.

“Yes.”

“Are there other Dragons where you’re from?”

“No, we’re the only ones. He’s very powerful, and I believe that’s the reason no other settled near him.”

“That’s understandable. Of those I’ve met, most prefer to be the only Dragon nearby.”

“Except for us,” a very striking woman said, nudging Daniel out of the way so that she could stand front and center, taking in all that was Tempest. “Hello, Tempest. I am Delilah. My mate, Kaid, and I,” she said, indicating the male right behind her, “are Alpha here. We were pleased to hear of you from Brandt.”

“And I’m Tessa! I’m a Dragon, too!” Tessa called out, standing up when she spoke so that she could be recognized. She was gorgeous, looking a lot like her mother, yet only 12 or 13 years old.

“Hello, Tessa! I am honored,” Tempest said.

The girl smiled and sat back down now that she’d been noticed.
