“You do now,” Tempest said. “Come on.”

Brandt had been standing by, waiting for Tempest to work her magic with the females who were obviously still on edge, and as soon as he saw them start toward the house, he followed them. Barron went up ahead and unlocked the door with a key Brandt handed him. “Welcome home!” he announced as the family stepped inside.

“Your kitchen is fully stocked,” Brandt said, glancing at Tempest who gave him the tiniest nod. “If there’s something you need that’s not here, let me know. Y’all can freeze or cook the boar at will, but you have other options, too.” He walked over and placed the shank he carried in the sink, and the two roasts Kiernan carried were placed there, too. “This is your pantry,” Brandt said, opening a door and pointing inside. “Everything in it is for your use. Once you start making some money, you can stock it in any way you like. The cabinets are stocked with dishes and pots and pans. You shouldn’t need anything, but like I said, if something’s missing, let us know.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Kiernan finally said from the center of the kitchen where he turned slowly in a circle looking around himself.

“Then come over here and let me show you about your thermostat,” Brandt said.

Kiernan nodded and followed him.

“You probably want to see that too so you can adjust the temperature in here if he’s not here to do it for you,” Tempest said. “You’re expecting. In my opinion, you get to decide if you’re too hot or too cold and make it the way you want it.”

Abby smiled and walked over to see how to operate the thermostat.

“In each bedroom you’ll find closets with bedsheets and blankets and comforters, in addition to what’s already on the beds. Use whatever you want. Change out what you want if you like something you find in the closets better. In the bathrooms you’ll find everything you need, too. Should be new toothbrushes still in the packages in the bathrooms somewhere. Just dig ‘til you find what you want. The washer and dryer are in the mudroom right before the back door.”

“Only thing we don’t have is a baby bed. Does KJ need a baby bed?” Tempest asked.

“He can sleep with us,” Kiernan said.

“Alright, well, that’s it. We’ll leave you to it. Don’t think there’s something here you can’t touch or use. It’s here for you to use.”

“Even the clothes in the closets. They’re for your use as well,” Tempest said.

Brandt was surprised by that, but didn’t say anything in front of Kiernan’s family.

Kiernan and his family walked slowly through the house, finding the master suite, looking in every door to see what was behind it. Looking at the furniture. “Why is this house sitting here all ready with nobody living in it?” Kiernan finally asked.

“We have a large family. Not everybody lives here, but they come back for visits often, sometimes without notice. We have a few houses designated for exactly that,” Brandt explained.

“We won’t be putting nobody out, will we?” Kiernan asked.

“Not at all. Got two others ready and waiting, and we don’t usually get everybody home at the same time. Doesn’t matter anyway, this one is yours. It’s not available for unexpected use anymore,” Brandt said.

Kiernan walked over to Brandt, wiping his hand on his dirty jeans as he went, until he was standing right in front of him. He extended his hand, which Brandt shook without hesitation. “Welcome to the Legacy Clan. You’re under my protection while you’re here, as is everyone else under my rule. While you are here, you are under my rule.”

“I’ll make sure you don’t regret this.”

“I know you will,” Brandt said.

“I’ll make sure, too,” Shaun mumbled from between still split lips.

“I hope so,” Brandt said, an edge in his voice.

Shaun nodded.

“We got things to do. Make yourself at home. I’ll let the rest of the clan know you’re here and why.”

“You don’t need to worry about anything. Nothing will make you sorry we’re here,” Abby said confidently.

Brandt looked at the woman and saw the conviction on her features. He felt the hope growing inside her that things were finally making a turn for them. “I believe you. But I have to say, I am Alpha here. If my people have issue, I have issue.”

“You won’t have any issue,” Abby said passionately.

“Glad to hear that,” Brandt said.

“We’ll leave you to it, then,” Brandt said, leading the way out of the house with Tempest and Barron right behind him.
