Tears pricked my eyes as I nodded.
I love you, too.
“Oh no. What did he say?” Lizzy demanded. “The whole telepathic thing is super weird to adjust to, but it will bring you two even closer than you can possibly image. Maybe not always in a good way. But you'll both be stronger for it.”
“It's not that,” I admitted. “He's just being sweet right now.”
“Pregnancy hormones,” Peyton said.
“Tell him to go away and leave us alone. This is girl time,” Ruby complained.
“Can he even do that now?” Clara asked. “I just assume Cole is always listening in when Lizzy's around.”
She laughed. “No. It's not like that at all. Cole and I have been bonded long enough that we don't even think about it most of the time. Plus, it gets easy to tune the other person out and you can learn to block each other's thoughts, too.”
“You can?” I asked.
“Yes. It's not even that hard. Once you accidentally do it once, you'll know.”
“Accidentally?”
She shrugged. “That's what happened to me. At first it can all be very overwhelming emotionally dealing with your mate's thoughts and feelings and just everything. But eventually it just becomes a part of you and you won't be able to imagine not having him there with you all the time.”
“You never talk about this,” Peyton said.
Lizzy gave a weak smile. “It's just personal, Pey. And I know you guys haven't gotten there yet. So aside from Mom and Kelsey, I've just never had anyone to talk to it about.”
“Well, I'm probably going to need to talk about it,” I confessed.
“As long as you maintain the sister code,” Ruby reminded me.
I have always had a bad habit of oversharing and Thomas's sisters don't particularly care to hear about the more personal details of our intimacy. I get it and try to be respectful of it, but sometimes, a girl just needs to talk.
Thomas
Chapter 18
The fact that Lily was already nesting was freaking me out. She never did that this soon. I know she said it wasn't that, but it sure sounded like it, especially with her insistence that it wasn't.
“Earth to Thomas,” Luke said.
“Sorry, man. Lily,” I admitted pointing to my head.
“Lily? Are you saying what I think you're saying?”
“I don't know. What do you think I'm saying?”
James came bursting through the door. “Sorry. I'm just running a little behind today.”
“Did you and Lily seal your bond?” Luke blurted out.
“Why would you ask something like that?” James asked. “And the answer is no. Trust me, if that had happened, it would have gone out on the Six Pack chat group right away. Maybe not to us guys, but no way would Lily keep something like that to herself.”
And yet, she had. Why? I wondered.
Why what?
Why didn't you send out an announcement the second our bond sealed? Did you even tell Elise or Maddie?
