I can’t believe this is the same man who I thought was just my boss only a day ago.

I love him so much, and after he took care of him yesterday, Oliver seems to love him too. I throw on my robe and head to the kitchen to find my boys making chocolate chip pancakes, Oliver’s favorite.

I wrap them both in a hug before looking up to Jason, “Is this crazy? I still work for you and yesterday morning it seemed like you didn’t want anything to do with me, now you’re cooking breakfast with my son,” I say, a tear streaming down my face at how lucky we are to have him.

He wipes away the tear before clasping my cheeks, just like last night. “I know it’s fast love, but when you know, you know. You’re it for me, you were it for me the moment you stood up for Dawson on your first day. I love you, and I love Oliver too. We can face whatever comes next together,” he tells me.

I let out a choked sob, overwhelmed by this man and his love for us. “I love you too, Jason. I know you’ll always be here for us,” I say, before turning to Oliver and asking him, “Would you be happy if Mr. Jason was here with us all the time?”

“Daddy… yes,” Oliver replies, and we all laugh. I guess he’s sticking around.

A few weeks later, after what feels like thousands of hours of meetings with Clark and Jason’s top legal team, we are in court to find out if I can keep Oliver once and for all. Jason sits next to me, holding my hand, focusing all of his attention—and death glares—on Daniel.

Daniel, who has made it clear he only wants Oliver for the status it will give him with his new girlfriend, who always wanted a little boy. Daniel, who has never once shown up for Oliver and cast him aside before he was even born.

If any man in this room is Oliver’s father, it’s Jason, who has shown up for Oliver every day since he met him, who loves him so selflessly he has thrown every resource he has in to making sure we get to keep him.

It has been a full day of hearing from the lawyers on both sides, and I feel like it is clear to all Daniel has no desire to have Oliver in his life, to be his parent, to see him through everything. I just hope the judge sees it that way, too.

Jason squeezes my hand as the judge walks back into the chamber, signaling that he has made a decision.

“Well, after several hours of interesting testimony from both sides, one thing has become abundantly clear to me. Bianca Harris is that boy’s mother and she belongs with her, and with Mr. Ellsworth, who has shown nothing but love for them both throughout this whole ordeal. Mr. Graham, you never exhibited a true need to have Oliver in your life, and that will forever be your loss. Miss Harris, Oliver is yours, forever. I wish you all the best. And Mr. Graham, I hope you realize what you lost here today. You are all dismissed,” the judge finishes.

I jump up into Jason’s waiting arms, tears streaming down my face as I pepper him with kisses murmuring “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” to him over and over. When I look up, I am shocked to see tears on Jason’s face too.

“I’m just so relieved we get to keep our boy,” he says, before leaning down to kiss me.

We only break apart when we hear a throat clearing and see Clark standing there with a knowing grin on his face.

“Clark, I could have never gotten this far without you. You saved me from the first day we met and I owe you forever,” I say, wrapping him in an embrace.

“Sweetie, you helped me too, I am so glad this worked out. Now go get my little champ, you two,” he says, shaking Jason’s hand as he turns to leave.

Jason and I turn to go get our son.

Chapter Nine

Bianca

I stare at the image of myself in the long dresser mirror in my room. Jason will be here soon and I can feel every nerve in my body humming with anticipation. It's been six months since we started dating officially and Jason has invited me out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. For the occasion, I chose a shimmering blue dress that molds perfectly over my curves with a slit that runs up my thighs. Ronnie got me the dress on my last birthday and although it's gorgeous, I haven't really found the perfect occasion for it until now.

I do a little twirl, running my hands down the front of the dress as I try to imagine Jason's reaction when he sees me… I can almost imagine his eyes roaming possessively over my body, his lips turned up at the corners in that smug way that never fails to excite me.

The past six months have been amazing. Jason Ellsworth is the best any woman could ever wish for. He's gentle, kind, and the most supportive person I've ever met—to me. But, through Oliver’s adoption battle he was fierce, sticking his toughest lawyers on the case with Clark and ensuring that Daniel never got an inch of wiggle room when it came to Oliver. Thanks to his efforts, and maybe some good old-fashioned scare tactics, it's been made clear that Daniel Graham has absolutely no claim of Oliver ever again.

These days, life has been pretty amazing and I'm happier than I ever thought possible. Having Oliver all to myself is a dream come true, and I'm now preparing for my college entrance exams. I couldn't have done any of that without Jason. He's turned my whole life around and now it seems like the universe is finally aligning in my favor.

Taking one last look in the mirror, I walk out of my bedroom into the living room where Ronnie is waiting with Oliver. She'd dressed him up in a cute little suit, his hair neatly combed to the side. He looks so grown up, and I can't help a big smile at the sight of him.

“Mommy!” He screams, running up to me. I stoop to his level and ruffle his hair, smiling into his face. “Don't you look just dandy, young man?” He giggles, moving into my outstretched arms. “One would think he's my date,” I say, looking up at Ronnie over his head.

“I couldn't have my godson slacking,” she says, flipping her hair over her shoulders with a sassy smile. I roll my eyes playfully at her before returning my attention to Oliver who's gently tugging my dress. “Yes, pumpkin?”

“Can I go play with my trucks before Daddy comes?”

For some reason, Oliver had started to call Jason Daddy right from their second meeting and Jason seemed to absolutely dig the title. He spoils Oliver silly and they've grown to become best friends. Not like I'm complaining; I definitely enjoy their bond and it always fills my heart with joy whenever I see them together.
