“I was thinking about you, this, us, and how nice it is to spend this time with you. Thank you for doing this with me,” I said.

“Spending time with you is never a hardship. I’ve been enjoying the day immensely.” He leaned forward and kissed my ear and then whispered in my ear, “There is just one thing that would make it better.”

His hands tightened around me as he spoke and I knew what he was getting at. I turned my head and looked at him over my shoulder, his blue eyes aimed at mine as I asked, “What?”

“This,” he said.

He turned me around and as he did, his mouth found mine. His lips pressed up against me and his tongue demanded entrance. I glided my hands up his arms and around his shoulders, pulling him closer. My mouth opened and his tongue dove inside. I moaned deep in the back of my throat as he intensified the kiss. His hands moved down my back and to my ass, giving it a tight push, moving me over his center. I could feel how much he wanted me and I kissed him passionately.

I have no idea how long we kissed standing next to that tree but it was a while later that we broke and Dax put his head down on my forehead. “Better than I could have imagined. More than I ever could have dreamed,” he said.

“You weren’t too bad yourself,” I said breathlessly.

“Thank you.” He gave me a quick kiss on the nose and then stepped away. “I would like nothing more than to keep doing this but we need to get the horses back and we have plans for tonight.”

“We do?” I asked.

“Hopefully, if you’re willing, I would like to have dinner with you in your hotel room. I have asked Enrique, the head chef, to make us dinner. We can sit on your balcony, enjoy the evening, and each other’s company. Later, there should be some fireworks we can watch. What do you say?”

“Dax, that sounds amazing. I would love to have dinner with you.” I held his gaze, letting him know I understood what he was asking but wasn’t actually saying. Things had escalated between us and I couldn’t be happier about it.

“Wonderful. Shall we head back?” he asked.

“Yes.”

He took my hand in his as we walked back to the horse. When we got there, he suggested that I get on his horse with him.

“Why? Honey is doing fine,” I said.

“Trust me.” He had a wicked look on his face and I nodded my agreement.

As we set out, I was sitting in front of him. Honey walked behind us, letting Harrison and Dax take the lead. I was content to be in front of him and watch the world go by. The kiss had turned my mind to mush and I leaned back and enjoyed the feeling of having his arms around me.

“You are right, this is much nicer,” I said.

“I’m glad you agree. In this scenario, I can put my arms around you,” Dax said and did. He held me close and pushed me up against him. I closed my eyes and savored the feeling of being in his arms.

“And I can do this,” he said and kissed my neck.

“Yes, yes you can,” I said with a laugh.

The day had been incredible. Dax was a different man when we were alone, he seemed freer, more himself. I knew the weight of the company and his need to succeed were on his shoulders and it wasn’t something he could easily get away from. I heard him laugh more and be more relaxed today than I had ever seen him. It was good for him and I was glad that I could witness it.

“You smell wonderful,” Dax said and kissed my neck. I tilted my head away from him so he could have easier access and he laughed deep in his throat. His hands moved up to my breasts and cupped them. I let out a shock cry and opened my eyes.

“Shhh. It’s okay, no one’s around but us.” He licked my neck and I sighed into him.

“You're a wicked man,” I teased.

“Only because you make me so. You have no idea how much I want you.”

I rubbed my backside against him and said, “I think I’m getting a good idea.”

“Now who’s wicked,” he whispered in my ear. “Just wait until I get you back to the hotel room.”

“I can’t wait,” I admitted.

“Me either. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a little fun in the meantime,”
