Page 52 of Merciless Angel
We pulled into the driveway at the Angel house. Daire jerked the car to a halt. He waited until we were inside the house to say, “You owe us, Clover. We’ve killed for you. I’m sure you can do this one little favor for us.”
My discomfort grew as all three of them pinned me with expectant expressions. I shook my head, refusing to be coerced into this. “That’s not fair. I didn’t ask you to hurt anyone for me. You’re asking me to hurt my friend by betraying her. I won’t do that.”
The three of them exchanged a look with each other. Daire turned away with a huff, stalking into the kitchen. A moment later a cupboard door banged aggressively.
Cash followed him without a word to me. Something told me that I still hadn’t won this argument. That was confirmed when Blaze put a hand on my shoulder and steered me to the staircase.
“Let’s go upstairs and get ready for bed. You have class tomorrow, don’t you?”
Suspicion bloomed inside me. “Uh, yeah. I should try to get some sleep. I would probably be more well rested if I slept at the dorm. I can call an Uber to take me.”
“Nice try, Dollface. You’re not getting away that easily. You’re staying right here. I’ll drive you to campus tomorrow.” Blaze’s grip on my shoulder tightened as he pushed me up the stairs ahead of him.
I felt like a caged animal. We’d had a nice time out by the river and they had to go and ruin it by being themselves.
“Where will I sleep?” I dared to ask. “I can’t always bunk with you.”
Blaze guided me into his bedroom and closed the door behind us. “You can always climb in with Cash or Daire. I’m sure they would love that. Might be good to rotate beds so we all get quality time with you.”
The thought of sharing a bed with Daire made me uneasy. He was the most unpredictable of the three so far. The one most likely to do something that bordered on psychotic.
“I do need my personal space sometimes,” I pointed out.
I stood awkwardly in the middle of the room while Blaze fixed me with a piercing stare. “I’m sure we can arrange for you to have your precious personal time if you’d be willing to help us out with the Gods.”
Frustration made my face burn hot. The temper that usually took a while to boil rose quickly. “So that’s how it’s going to be? I won’t be treated like a person unless I obey your every command? Screw that. This is bullshit.”
“Listen to your filthy mouth,” Blaze chuckled, amused by my anger. “I like it. You should get mad more often. It’s a nice change from the quiet, meek version of you.”
His laughter only pissed me off more. With both hands on my hips, I stood my ground. “I’m done people pleasing. I’m sick of being abused and taken advantage of. I’m not helping you guys screw over the Gods. If you want to rob them so badly, do it without me.”
Blaze’s laughter stopped, his smile vanishing. He nodded slowly. “All right. I can see that it’s going to take some convincing. I can handle that.”
We moved at the same time. As Blaze darted toward me, I turned to sprint for the door. He was faster.
He pulled me back against him, his arms going around me. Dragging me back toward the bed, Blaze swore when he almost tripped. He tossed me onto the bed, climbing on top of me.
“What the fuck?” I snapped, pushing against his chest. “Get off me, Blaze.”
“That’s right, Clover. Get angry. Let’s see some kind of emotion. Show me how much you fucking hate me.” Blaze fumbled to catch my flailing hands as I shoved and hit him.
He wanted me to get mad and fight. He liked it. Maybe it made him feel justified in his actions. Maybe it wasn’t as satisfying if your victim just laid there and took it. Well, I was done taking it.
“I do fucking hate you,” I snarled, catching him with a slap across the cheek. “All you’ve done is try to control me, forcing me to be your toy. Now you want me to screw over my friend. You can go fuck yourself, Blaze. All three of you can take a flying leap off a steep cliff.”
Blaze managed to catch my hands, pinning them to the mattress next to my head. “Tell me how you really feel. Damn girl. You’ve got a lot of pent up emotions, huh? Holding everything in isn’t good for you.”
With his free hand, Blaze pulled off his belt. He used it to tie my hands together above my head before looping it around the bed post. The leather bit into my still sore wrists. I clenched my teeth, my mind racing for a way out of this.
“Gonna tie me up just like Zane, huh? I guess you’re no better than he is.”
“Sure I am,” Blaze countered. “I’m not going to beat your ass like he did. Although I will do whatever it takes to make you comply. My tactics tend to be a little different than his.”
“Maybe you should’ve killed me,” I muttered, straining against the belt holding me. “It would have been better than being your doll.”
Blaze sat up on his knees, staring down at me. “Oh yeah? You like it though. Your pussy gets so fucking wet, and you come so hard. Don’t pretend you’re so goody two shoes that you don’t enjoy a good fucking. I’ve been inside you, Rainbow. I’ve felt you come on my cock.”
He peeled off his shirt, revealing a hard body that I knew felt as good as it looked. Dammit. Damn him.
