All things considered, I didn’t blame Clover for protecting herself. I’d have done the same, or worse, in her position. And yet, deep down it made me feel bad that she’d reacted this way. It kind of hurt. I didn’t like that at all.
I wasn’t supposed to care about this chick. She was supposed to be a fun way to pass some time and get my rocks off. I’d thought Blaze was getting in over his head by developing feelings for her. I hadn’t cared.
Not until I saw her tied down with Zane on top of her. Something had changed in that moment. I hadn’t just wanted her to be my toy, I’d wanted her to be mine. My girl.
Fuck.
“Are you all right?” Cash asked when I returned to the kitchen.
He lounged on the couch with a drink in one hand and a joint in the other. A small pile of coke sat on the side table next to him. Blaze sat on the armchair across from him, rubbing his forehead while staring at the floor.
“I’ll live. Fucking eyes are killing me though.” I helped myself to the joint Cash held, sucking back enough to fill my lungs and make me cough.
“What’s our next step?” Blaze never looked up from the spot on the floor that held his attention. “We have to get her back.”
Plopping down on the other end of the couch, I leaned my head back and closed my aching eyes. “Oh, we will. That little cock tease isn’t escaping us now. She can’t rely on the Gods forever. We’re getting her back if we have to burn their damn house down to do it.”
The sound of Cash using a rolled up bill to suck a line of blow up his nose followed. “We can’t do anything stupid just because we’re pissed off. They’ll be expecting that.”
“I’m beyond pissed off.” I clenched and unclenched a fist. “Clover betrayed us. She has to pay for that. I can’t wait to get my hands on her and make her sorry.”
My mind raced as I concocted ways to make her scream and beg. She’d be pleading for forgiveness when I got through with her, if I ever did.
“We should have put a tracker on her when we had the chance. It would be easier to find her without Raina or the Gods being around.” Disappointment rang in Blaze’s voice.
“Good call. That’s the first thing we’ll do when we get her back.” I ignored Cash when he tried to take the joint from me, sticking it between my lips.
“And if we grab her and the Gods come here with their mobster crew?” Cash asked. “What then?”
There was a moment of silence before I said, “Then we take Clover down with us.”
“I’m not letting anything happen to her.” Blaze’s tone was sharp enough to make me open my eyes. “We’re not pulling some reckless shit.”
I sighed, not in the mood to argue with him. “We don’t have to kill her. We just have to make sure Raina and the Gods think we will if they interfere. Don’t get your panties in a twist, Blaze. Your precious Clover will be fine. She’ll be sorry as fuck, but she’ll live. Probably.”
“Stop pretending you don’t care. I know you, Daire. If you didn’t care about her, you wouldn’t even want her back.” Blaze fixed his piercing stare on me, daring me to deny his claim.
I sucked on the joint, waving a hand dismissively when Cash offered me the rolled up twenty. I still hadn’t decided how I felt about Clover. There was no denying that I felt something, although I had no name for that feeling. I sure as hell wasn’t about to name it for Blaze.
I shrugged. “Meh. It’s the principle. She agreed to be ours. Then she betrayed us. It doesn’t really matter how I feel about her. She needs to pay for what she did.”
“You’re fucking impossible sometimes, you know that?” Shoving off the armchair, Blaze stalked from the room without another word.
“He’s in pretty deep,” Cash remarked. He pulled out another joint, accepting that he wasn’t getting this one back.
“How do you feel about it?” I rolled my head to one side so I could look at him. My damn eyes continued to burn as I focused.
Dropping the twenty on the table in favor of the joint, Cash nodded. “I agree with both of you. Clover is special. She doesn’t deserve to die, but she does deserve to suffer a little for what she did to us.”
“Fucking rights she does.” Leaving the couch, I went to the kitchen sink to stub out what little remained of the joint. “I’m going up to shower and rest my damn eyes. Let me know if anything comes up.”
Leaving Cash to his private party for one, I climbed the stairs to the top floor. Right away the sound of an angry guitar greeted me. Blaze was having a moment. At least he’d closed the door. Not that it helped much.
Entering the bathroom, I stripped down and turned the shower on hot. Thoughts of what I would do to Clover danced through my mind as I stepped beneath the stream of water.
I would hang her from the chains in the basement until her body couldn’t take anymore. I would smack her perfect little ass with a whip until she begged my forgiveness. And a few more times after that.
She would crawl for me, on her hands and knees, until I deemed that she’d had enough. Every inch of her skin would bear the marks of my touch. My teeth, hands, and cock would leave a lasting impression that she would never forget.
