“I really like you, Bella,” he rasps, leaning in to me as his lips brush against my throat, his fingers skating up my dress.

“Ladies!” Harper calls out, standing and grabbing my hand, dragging me to the restroom. “You’re so drunk,” she laughs as she walks me into the toilet.

“I know,” I wail, leaning against the wall.

“You need to be careful; you’re already playing with fire and throwing Tate into the mix…”

I huff.

“I need to call it off with Henry. I’m not a homewrecker.”

Harper just gives me a look. It’s not disapproving. It’s concern.

Fumbling for my phone, I close one eye and squint with the other as I find his message and press the call button.

He answers on the first ring.

“Bella, are you okay?”

“I am fiiiiiine,” I drag the words out and hold my thumb up towards Harper who just face palms herself.

“You’re drunk.”

“And? I was calling you for a reason,” I stand a little taller, my words slurring.

He says nothing.

“It’s over between us. I don’t want to be your mistress,” I whisper into the phone, “I have Tate. And Tate doesn’t have a wife, and I am sure Tate will fuck me just as good, if not better than you.” I hiccup. “So goodbye Mr Henry.”

I cut the phone off and slip it back into my bag.

“Done.”

“Oh Bella… what have you done,” Harper sighs, linking her fingers through mine and leading me back outside.

CHAPTER NINE

HENRY

Sitting at home, my fingers are curled around my whiskey glass when my phone lights up with Bella’s name. Uneasiness settles in my chest.

“Bella, are you okay?” I ask, heart pounding in my chest.

“I am fiiiiiine,” she slurs the words and lets out a giggle.

She is drunk.

Totally blind drunk.

Rage simmers inside of me.

“You’re drunk,” I tell her, already standing and putting her on speaker phone so I can see her location. She’s across from the office. I can be there in ten.

I am already texting Jeff to pull the car around.

“And?” she sighs, “I was calling you for a reason,” and I can hear her trying to be assertive, can imagine her standing a little taller, pushing her pretty tits out.

I roll my lips.
