“I’ve been in this room twice,” she said with a grin, “and I had not stopped to notice any of the details about it until now.” She winked. “I guess I was too busy the first time.”

And the second time had been traumatic. The memory of her pain made him want to rip those Hillside members’ heads off.

As an alpha, Alex had mastered the art of composure, his emotions carefully guarded behind a facade of strength and authority. Yet, with Lena, those walls he so meticulously maintained seemed to crumble with each passing moment.

Lena’s laughter, light and carefree, filled the room as she picked up a particularly old photo of Alex from his teenage years, his hair an unfortunate testament to the styles of the time. “I see the alpha has always had a wild side,” she teased, holding up the photo for him to see.

A warmth spread through Alex at her teasing, a feeling he recognized as happiness but seldom felt so freely. “Every great leader has to start somewhere,” he replied, the corners of his mouth twitching upward in a smile. It was rare for him to share such personal artifacts of his life, yet with Lena, it felt right.

As she placed the photo back on the shelf, her movements became more contemplative, and she turned to face him, her eyes searching. “What’s it like?” she asked, her tone shifting to something more serious. “Being an alpha, carrying all that responsibility?”

Alex paused, the question striking at the core of his identity. He had been groomed to be an alpha from a young age, taught to prioritize the pack above all else. Emotions, particularly his own, were often seen as distractions, unnecessary vulnerabilities that could cloud judgment.

“It’s... complicated,” he admitted, stepping closer to her. “Strength is more than physical; it’s about making decisions that affect everyone you’re responsible for. Sometimes, it feels like walking a tightrope, balancing what’s best for the pack with what’s right.”

Lena’s hand found his, a simple gesture that sent a jolt of electricity through him. “And what about what’s best for you?” she asked softly, her gaze locked on his.

The question unleashed a torrent of emotions Alex usually kept locked away. Desire, fear, longing—all warred within him, making it difficult to articulate the maelstrom his heart had become. “What’s best for me,” he started, his voice low, “is something I’m still trying to figure out. But, it feels like... it might have something to do with you.”

The air between them charged, every word, every glance, intensifying the connection that had been simmering since they met. Lena stepped into him, closing the distance, her eyes reflecting the heat he felt.

“Maybe I can help with that,” she whispered, standing on her tiptoes to bridge the gap between them, her lips meeting his in a kiss that felt like a vow.

Alex responded instinctively, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer. The kiss deepened, fueled by all the words they hadn’t said, all the feelings he struggled to comprehend. In that moment with Lena in his arms, Alex allowed himself to simply feel, to savor the sweetness of her lips and the heat of her body against his.

Breaking the kiss, Lena looked up at him, a smile playing on her lips. “For someone who’s supposed to be all tough and alpha, you’re pretty good at this whole romance thing,” she teased, her voice breathy.

Alex chuckled, the sound rumbling deep in his chest. “Maybe I’m discovering new talents,” he replied, his heart racing. “With you, I want to explore... everything.”

He heard the wooden floor creak under her feet as Lena sauntered into the rustic kitchen, her emerald eyes locking onto Alex’s. A devious grin tugged at her lips. His gaze traveled up her slender legs, silky negligee barely concealing her curves, to her amused, yet seductive expression. A fire ignited in his chest.

With a confident stride, Lena closed the space between them. Alex hesitated, but only for a moment before he dipped his head to kiss her. Their lips met in a fevered kiss, hungry and desperate. Lena’s fingers wove through his hair, pulling him closer as their tongues danced.

Alex moaned, forgetting his reservations as he traced his lips down her jawline, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. Heat pooled in his loins, and with each touch, every inhibition burned away.

Breaking the kiss Lena, met his stare and lowered to her knees in front of him. “Lena,” he growled. “You don’t have to do this.”

A wicked smile lifted the corners of her lips. “I know. I want to.”

She undid his pants and freed his cock. Gripping him in her hand, she slowly stroked and licked the head of his length, teasing. He let out a groan jerking his hips forward an invitation for her to taste him.

She took him into her mouth and sucked. He fisted his hands in her hair and pulled at the roots. A groan broke from her throat. He moved his hips, sliding his cock in and out of her mouth. She cupped his balls and rolled them in her hand as she sucked.

His hips bucked and the muscles in his thighs tensed underneath her arms, right before his body jerked and he came. She savored every drop of him.

He gripped her arms and pulled her up to him capturing her mouth and pushing his tongue inside.

Lena gasped, her nails digging into his back as she arched into him. “Bedroom,” she breathed, her voice barely a whisper. Alex didn’t need any further prompting.

Gently, he scooped her up in his arms, carrying her to the bedroom. He set her down on the bed, their clothes unceremoniously discarded as their bodies came together, skin-to-skin, in a tangle of desire and need.

Their passionate cries filled the cabin as they explored each other’s bodies, every touch, every kiss, reigniting a flame that had long since been smoldering.

Lena hesitated before dialing, knowing this conversation would be a blend of concern, outrage, and the unique brand of humor that only her mother could inject into such situations. She took a deep breath and pressed the call icon, the phone barely ringing twice before her mom’s voice filled her ear, brimming with the usual vigor.
