“You think?” I say sarcastically.

“You just need to keep calm right now. Let things play out.”

“You’ve said that now multiple times, and I don’t have a fucking clue what you mean.”

“Things are being handled. Behind the scenes. Trust me.”

“Seriously? You want me to trust you? You’ve wanted me gone from the moment you knew I was involved with Hannah,” I tell him.

“And I was wrong for doing that. She’s a grown woman, and I need to be respectful of that. If she wants to be with you, I won’t stand in your way.”

“That’s moot.”

“What do you mean?”

“She doesn’t want to be with me. She broke it off. It’s fine. I wouldn’t want to be with me either.”

“She wants to be with you, Santzy. She’s just working through things right now.”

“Working through things? I really wish you would stop with the vague terminology, Coach. She doesn’t want to be with me. Pretty sure she blocked me on everything.”

“She did block you on social media, yes. But she didn’t block your phone number.”

My mouth drops open as I pull into my underground parking. “She didn’t?”

“No.”

“How do you know that?”

“I had dinner with her last night. I asked her, after I caught her scrolling through your text messages.”

“I don’t see how it matters. She doesn’t want to talk to me. I doubt she’d answer a text.”

“Texts are a paper trail, Luca. But I bet she’d answer a phone call.”

I clear my throat as I ponder his words. “Do you — do you know where she’s living?”

“I do.”

“Would you be willing to share that information?”

“I might.”

I sigh. “Is this going to be like pulling teeth to get the information out of you?”

“It’s actually quite simple.”

“How so?”

“You have something I want.”

I chuckle. “Is that so?”

“Yep. Your mom made lasagna for the team last year. I want two dishes of it, so I can eat one now and freeze one for later.”

“Seriously? That’s it?”

“Have you eaten her lasagna? It’s fucking perfection. I’d say it’s an even trade.”
