"Then why not just go in and tell him?"

This wasn't rocket science.

"We can't," Malloy insisted. "This is a very delicate meeting between bosses. If we were to go in there right now, it could blow this whole thing to hell."

He had already said this, but it still didn't make sense to me. Lives could be at stake here, our lives. I would think everyone would want to know, and they might even be grateful for King's security moving so quickly to make them all safe.

Ignorance was not always bliss. Sometimes it was just stupid.

"Fine." I held out my hand. "I'll do it."

Malloy blinked at me as if he wasn't sure he had heard me right.

"You might not be able to go in there, but I can. Now, give it to me."

Malloy handed the small earpiece over with a groan. "King is going to kill me if anything happens to you."

I rolled my eyes as I slid it into my pocket. "Nothing is going to happen to me." I hoped. "Where's the bag I brought in earlier?"

Boden grabbed several of my bags and brought them over to me. I quickly looked inside a couple of them to make sure what I needed were in there.

It was.

"If you hear screaming, it's probably them."

I took a deep breath and then bounced my way to King's office door. I plastered my broad smile on my face and then opened the door. I ignored the men sitting in front of King's desk and made a beeline for him.

"Now is not a good time, baby," King said even as he opened up his arms to me.

I let out an exceptionally loud huff.

"I know, I know. Malloy already chewed me out, but I just need a moment of your time." I set my shopping bag down on his desk and pulled out the items I was looking for. "I had a nail appointment this morning. I need to know which blouse goes better with my nails."

"Spencer."

"Please?" I whined, batting my eyelashes at him. I knew I was being over the top and ridiculous, but that was kind of the point.

King sighed. "Fine, show me."

I let out a little squeal of delight and danced in place for a moment before holding my hand out. "So, this is the nail color. It's called red-iance." I kicked off my sandal and lifted my leg up, wiggling my toes. "I got my toes done, too."

"They look very nice, baby."

I beamed.

"So, I got these two blouses at Saks today. I need to know which one goes better with my nails. This one"—I held one of the shirts up to my chest—"or this one." I held the other one up.

"Let me see the other one again."

I quickly held the first shirt up to my chest.

"I like that one better."

"Really?"

I glanced down at the shirt. It didn't take a genius to figure out why he liked this one better. It covered more skin. The other one was mesh halfway down. It would show off everything below my nipples.

"It goes better with your nail polish."
