Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

She’d thought he was cold and detached. Clearly, Jax was anything but.

Jax raised a single brow at her mini panic, his sapphire eyes edging silver as his hair had brushed forward, as if trained to hide the left side of his face. She wanted to brush it away, to stroke her fingers along his scar. Except she didn’t. Couldn’t. Not when her feelings were too raw.

Abruptly, she scrambled off, pulling her dress down at the same time so her bare pussy wasn’t on show. Because of course her underwear was nowhere to be found, the club was too dark to find the fabric despite them being bright pink.

Not to mention her thighs were embarrassingly sticky, and she was thankful that Jax wore black because she was pretty sure she’d left a mess on his lap. He simply leaned back, head cocked as he watched her like a predator. There was no smugness about him, just an intensity that had her shivering beneath his attention. It was as if the club didn’t exist, and at that moment, it was only the two of them.

Jax lifted his arms to rest on the back of the bench, three of his fingers still glistening obscenely beneath the lights. Horrifying fact, female cum glowed beneath UV light.

The skin on her cheeks prickled harder.

“So, yeah. I’m… I’ll be right back.” Without giving him a chance to respond, she grabbed her phone and crossed the room, unsure whether she should be embarrassed, ashamed, or book him in for a second round.

Surely she could have amazing sex with a man who’d broken into her home, stalked her and not make it weird? That didn’t mean she was unwell.

Okay, maybe she was a little unwell.

Trying not to bring any attention to herself in the bathroom, she cleaned herself up before walking back out into the club. Thea stumbled, catching herself against the wall when she was yanked roughly to the side.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Leighton snarled, his grip so tight it would definitely bruise. “Are you some type of slut now?”

Thea, using her free arm, shoved against him. He released his grip, but didn’t back off.

“You’re my girl,” he said, spitting the words at her. “I’m not going to let you fuck around – ”

“Let me?” Thea laughed. “I’m single, remember? Which means I can do whatever I want.”

Leighton growled, and she backed away until her head knocked against the wall. “Fucking hell Thea, they meant nothing but a quick fuck. You know you’re the only girl for me.”

“That’s a joke, right?” She pushed against him, but his body pressed closer. “Don’t touch me.” She didn’t know how she could have ever been attracted to him; his lips twisted into an ugly sneer as he breathed the stench of cigarettes and beer.

“Look,” he barked in her face. “I’ve been patient, but that’s enough of this bullshit. It’s been over a year. You need to get over it and come back to me.”

He reached for her hand, but she managed to slip beneath his arm.

His expression thundered. “Stop acting like a fucking – ”

“I wouldn’t finish that sentence.” Jax jerked Leighton to the side, holding him off the floor by the front of his shirt. The fabric cut into his neck, stretching under the weight.

“Jax!” Thea reached for his arm, her nails sticking in. “Don’t bother, he’s not worth it.”

Jax turned his head, his expression so calm it was terrifying.

“Please,” she added, just as her phone vibrated. Searching her bag, she quickly scanned the message. “Grey’s waiting for us.”

A nerve twitched in his jaw before he returned his attention to Leighton, who was struggling in his grip. “I’m right behind you.”

“Get your fucking hands off me!” Leighton snarled, kicking out. The shirt ripped, and he fell to the floor with a thump.

“Seriously, he isn’t worth your time.” Thea shook her head. “Grey’s outside; meet me there in two minutes or I’ll sic Ruhne on you.” Ignoring Leighton entirely, she turned and gave him her back.

The breeze swept through her hair when she stepped outside, cool enough to tease goosebumps along her skin. She hadn’t seen Leighton since she’d caught him balls deep in another woman. Thea hadn’t shouted, or even cursed. She’d simply turned around, dropped her key to his house on the mat, and walked away. Like an adult.

She’d also hired a young witch to scratch a bad luck charm into the back of his car, but that clearly hadn’t worked, considering a woman had been hanging off Leighton’s arm. Which was bullshit, because it had cost her a pretty penny.

I’m outside. Where are you?
