Jonas laughs, then leaves, and I can hear his soft mumbles to Levi in the other room. I guess Charity is back to sleep now.
“Chill, babe, I’m just kidding, but you have to know how jealous I am of what you have with the guys. I want that. I want someone to rub my feet, cook me dinner, or read to me when I have a headache and it hurts to look at the pages of my Kindle.”
“You will find that. I know you, Temp. Have you thought about calling King?”
King and Roman are a tough subject, but she knows that I still chat with her step-brother from time to time. We are actually good friends, but she’s never asked me about him.
They really hurt her. She left them, but I think she was hoping deep down that they would come after her. They messed up, and lost two of the most precious people they could have had the pleasure of loving.
“No, but with all the Isabella stuff going on, and the war the guys have been mentioning, I think I might. Or at least let them know about Rome… In case something were to happen to me.”
“Nothing is ever going to happen to you. I will kill for you, just like I will for my guys and the kids. Just as I would for Romeo.”
Tempest looks at me and wipes her eyes. “Damn, I thought this was supposed to be relaxing, not a therapy session.”
Grabbing the wine bottle, she takes a few large sips, then hands it to me and digs into the cookie dough.
Rolling my eyes, I take a small sip and give it back to her, in exchange for the tub of sweet goodness.
“I’m nursing, and if Charity is anything like her big brother, the wine will make her gassy,” I say in explanation and she sighs.
“The things we do for our children. I never saw myself as a mom. Mine is evil incarnate, and I always worried that I would turn out like her. But then I met King, and he had me envisioning a whole new kind of life…”
“You are the best mom and aunt, Tempest. You are nothing like that witch, and even without a man by your side, Rome is spoiled rotten, and loved beyond belief.”
“I think I’ll call him, but not yet. We have too much going on to add more drama into the mix.”
I nod, not pushing anything. This is a huge step for her, and I don’t want to say something that will make her second guess herself again.
We lay in the bubbles until the water begins to cool.
“Another round?” I ask with a smile, and she smacks my arm with her toes, nodding.
We drain a little of the water out, then add more bubbles and hot water. “This is paradise,” I hum as we listen to Taylor Swift sing about her love drama.
“It would be better with a book, but lately I’ve been in a slump. Maybe I need to just write something.”
“You would be good at that, but if you choose to write about us, change my name,” I say with a giggle, and she snorts.
“Damn, I could make a super spicy story about our school days.”
“Become a millionaire author, and then move to some tropical island where I can visit on the holidays.”
“Deal.”
“Okay, Mama, time to get out. You can’t sleep in the bathtub,” Levi says with a chuckle and I groan, blinking a few times to regain focus. Tempest got out a little while ago, but I wasn’t ready.
“It’s so nice,” I moan, stretching my limbs. “We need this tub at the house. How is the water still hot?”
“The rocks are heated. After you added more water, I turned them on for you guys.”
“Oh, well, it’s amazing.”
“Okay, baby girl, how about I help you shower?”
“If you insist, Mr. Madden,” I purr, lifting my arms up so he can grab me. I didn’t expect him to slap my ass and give it a squeeze.
“Levi!” I gasp.
