“I spoke with the police officers after they brought them down to the cars in handcuffs. I told them I was in the room next door, so they wanted my statement. I asked them not to tell Joel and Viki who I was, explained why, and told them what was going on based on what I knew and heard. They said they would hold them in separate cells until they had to go to the airport, then cut them loose. They might charge them with vandalism and destroying property if the hotel decides to press charges and they're getting disturbing the peace citations.”

“Jesus Christ.” Quinn and Tenn spoke at the same time, then looked at each other and started to laugh. “This is amazing!” Tenn choked out.

“Yep.” Ron chuckled. “And while it's funny and amazing karma, the most relevant part of all that is a signed contract exists somewhere.”

Tenn and Quinn stopped laughing almost immediately. “What kind of affair has a contract?” Quinn asked, shaking her head. “That’s ridiculous.”

“I don’t think it’s an affair contract. Based on what I heard over the weekend and what Tenn told me, I think they had a Dom/Sub Contract. It’s where they outline the rules, hard no’s, expectations, punishments etc.” Ron explained patiently. “I’ve come across a few looking for proof of cheating for clients. The number of people who hide things in their cars and garages is painfully high. In your case, I'd look at the dealership. I don't think they would keep it where you might stumble upon it and that's where they have in common.”

“Thanks, Ron. Did you get the invitation to the party?” Tenn asked with a grin.

“I did. Thanks for letting me witness the final blowup.” He chuckled. “And no fee for this weekend, just expenses you've already paid.”

“Thanks again. We'll see you on Friday.”

“Looking forward to it and meeting the lovely Quinn in person.” He hung up, and Quinn reached for her phone.

“Do we need the contract?” She asked, looking up at Tenn with indecision in her eyes. Tenn thought about it and then shook his head.

“No, we don’t, but I have to say, I’m really interested in seeing what the terms are.”

She smiled brightly. “Me too. I'll call Quill and get Rhyme's number.”

Chapter Forty-Three: The Contract

Tenn

“What are you planning to tell him?” Tenn asked as he stretched and tugged her down into his arms again, making her giggle.

“This is beautifully done,” Quinn murmured, tracing his Dacian Draco tattoo. “Matches the canvas.” Tenn felt his cheeks heat up as he grinned. “Tell who? Rhyme or Quill?

“Focus Flacara.” He teased, his hand running up and down her back.

“I'm focused,” Quinn smirked as she reached for her phone. “I can focus on two things. I’ll tell him Joel is out of town, and I need documents he accidentally took to work. Quill will drive us so he can distract Rhyme while I search for it.” She called Quill, explained the situation and asked if he could pick them up at ten if Rhyme agreed to let her in the office, which he agreed to. Then she called Rhyme, apologised for reaching out so early on Sunday morning and gave him the story. To her delight, he agreed to meet them at the dealership at ten-thirty. When she got off the phone, she texted Quill to meet them at her house.

“Why your house?” Tenn asked as he watched her stand up and walk around the bed to his side.

“Because I own a Porsche, and Gordon Rhyme will try to sell you and Quill a car if you tell him you drive anything but one. Arriving at the dealership in one of his cars will hopefully keep him at bay.” She reached out and took his hand. “Come on; we need to get cleaned up and meet my brother.”

After a quick shower together, which was mostly an excuse to spend more time touching each other, Quinn fixed her braid and got dressed in beige khaki capris and a mint green cami top with a ruched bust. Tenn pulled on khaki shorts and a navy cotton linen Henley shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Seeing her looking at him, he glanced down. “What's wrong? Do I look okay?”

“You're really fucking hot.” She shook her head as he laughed and slid his arm around her. “Somehow, you pull off both the nerdy but hot guy and dangerous motorcycle bad boy look simultaneously.”

“Funny, I think the same about you.” He kissed the tip of her nose. “The really fucking hot part. You look like a really artsy pin-up girl.” When they got in his car and were on the road to her house, Tenn remembered she wanted to talk and asked her what she wanted to say.

“We're together, right? Like divorces are happening, and we're together.” She sounded so nervous that Tenn reached for her hand and hastened to reassure her.

“We are together. You are my girlfriend, and I am your boyfriend. Eventually, you will be my fiancée and then my wife.” He grinned at her. “If that's what you want. I'm just letting you know it's what I want.”

“Okay, good. Great.” She sighed in relief, and Tenn watched as the tension drained out of her. “We're on the same page there. When are we going to tell people that?”

“Well, I'm assuming Joel and Viki will leave the party, I figured then. But we can wait a week or so if you want.” Tenn would tell people now if she’d let him, but the truth was he’d already told Del when they discussed the party; Ron was obviously already aware, as was Quill, so there weren't very many other people he wanted to tell.

“I think we'll have to have a mediation meeting with Joel and Viki to see if we can divorce amicably. I want to tell them during it, and then we tell everyone else.”

“I don't have many people to tell besides my family. Most of my university friends are spread around the world, and I only see them if they come home or I'm in their area. The few I have here already know. I'm not a social butterfly.” He admitted. “Part of the reason I stayed with Viki for so long is because I didn't want to date again.”

“Oh.” She paused and looked thoughtful for a moment. “I'm the same way. I have Quill, Rilla, Bishop, and now you. I open my home to the library staff once a month because I enjoy cooking for people. But other than lunch now and then, I don't spend much time with them. That's a simple solution then. What house did Quill show you?”
