“I trust that you took photos of all this.”
“Indeed.”
“And you can transmit them to me?”
“Right away, sir.”
“Good.” He came to me and gave me a quick peck on the cheek. “I have to go. Don’t give up, honey. This will all work out in the end.”
I nodded.“Okay.Bye.”
“Good day, Trent,” he said as he opened the front door.
“Good day, Mr. Lee.”
Silence filled the room the moment he exited.
I turned to face Trent.
“So,” he said, tilting his head to the side with curiosity. “You are Katrina Lee... the Katrina Lee... Mr. Lee’s daughter.”
I nodded. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I didn’t want you to give me preferential treatment just because my dad owns this place.”
“Right,” he said, clasping and unclasping his hands in a rather absentminded way.
“I was going to tell you soon,” I lied.
“Gee,” he said a bit sheepishly. “I really feel silly for coming onto you now. I never should have...”
“Trent, I was attracted to you, too.”
His eyes widened and a broad smile brightened his face. “Really? I’m happy to hear that. Really happy. And now that we no longer have this supervisor/student relationship in the way, well...” He let out a relieved sigh. “I can’t deny that I would be thrilled to get to know you better... romantically.”
I smiled, but at the back of my mind was Kobe. To hell with him! I had to stop thinking about him, and get on with my life. I looked at Trent’s handsome face and fit body. It wouldn’t hurt for me to start thinking about other guys. I wasn’t dating Kobe. I wasn’t dating anyone yet. Trent was so handsome and nice to me. Plus, he seem to really admire my father and cared about the company. “I think I’d like that,” I finally told Trent.
“Great.” He pulled me into his arms and looked into my eyes. “You’ve just made me so happy, Katrina. You have no idea.”
For a second, all I could see were Kobe’s eyes, looking at me that way. I shook my head and concentrated on the gorgeous man in front of me.
“How about we grab some dinner and a movie once we finish here.”
“Sounds good.”
Chapter 18
Kobe
“WHAT’S UP, BRO?” AXEL said as I stood there watching the love of my life storm off.
“Dad is ruining my life. That’s what.”
“Always the melodramatic,” he said as he palmed the football. “Come on.”
“Nah,” I said as I walked away.
“Bro, you need to get some backbone. If something is really important, stand up for it. Stand up to Dad and tell him what you want. Dad’s an alpha, so you should know he pushes us because he wants to toughen us. You have to understand that about Errol King. He’s a tough MF, but when it comes to mom or family, he’s got a soft side. I’ve seen it before.”
“You don’t know what he’s done, Axel,” I said.
