Seated at a four-seater with a few men guarding him, his eyes trailed over me lustily once more. I scoff and sat opposite to him.

“Hey sugar, you got a minute?” I asked sweetly.

“Anything for you.”

“You see some dick just killed my brother and I was wondering if you as the leader of the DC could help me. My brother was heading to medical school after graduation.”

That got his attention, and he sat upright. “Your bro is a kid?”

“Yeah, seventeen.”

His reaction was strange. Perhaps he didn’t know about what the deputy did. Luca stood behind me with his hands on my shoulders.

“You want me to ice the dude who did this?” he asked. “But it will cost ya.”

“What would it cost me?”

“Be my girl and we’re even.”

I laughed, placing my right hand atop Luca’s on my left shoulder. “I don’t think my husband would like that.” I leaned back until my head rested on Luca’s crotch. “Moreover, it wouldn’t mean shit if someone else does it.”

He looked up at Luca, the smile dying from his face. “Oh, your husband, huh? What you want? You want me to find the guy for you?”

“Kinda. Just tell us where he’s gone, and we’ll find him ourselves.”

Confusion caused his brows to meet. “I don’t understand.”

“Tell us what you know about Crazy Carlos.”

Putting his elbow on the table, he leaned forward. “Listen, you’re asking the wrong guy and you’re in the wrong place.”

I was about to lunge for the fool when Luca applied pressure to my shoulders, sitting me back down. I rolled my neck, hearing the muscles crack. I wanted to poke this man’s eyes out, but Luca was standing in my way.

“You listen carefully,” I hissed. “If you protect this asshole, there’s no protecting you or your turf.”

His jaw tightened and dark eyes looked like midnight. “Are you threatening me, bitch?”

At his comment, I felt Luca’s hands leave my shoulders and he stepped back. I stood with a smile and looked down on the fucker.

“Stand up.”

“Who the fuck are you?”

There was an immediate standoff between our men and his. But what I didn’t know was that Luca had commissioned the entire Champaign street team for this purpose. The team were outside surrounding the building as we were inside facing this piece of shit.

“Stand the fuck up, asshole,” I demanded.

He jumped to his feet and stepped in my direction, coming within inches of my face. I could smell his liquored breath with an underlying garlic stench.

“You know who the fuck you’re dealing with?”

Spreading my fingers, I reached down and grabbed the one thing I knew would make him kneel. I must admit his dick had a nice feel, but since it wasn’t mine, I didn’t give a fuck. I tightened my grip and twisted slightly. His face turned red and twisted in pain while his eyes bulged. He tried to pull my hand away but only managed to cover mine in the process.

“Fu…,” he started but the words seemed stuck in his throat.

I made eye contact, staring into those dark, frightened pools. “Listen carefully. I just lost the apple of my fucking eye, and I don’t give a fuck who you are. Your beta just killed an innocent boy. I will turn this city upside down and burn every building if I must.”

I loosened my grip but didn’t let go. A few more of our men had entered and were standing to the side while Pretty Boy Mike’s men eyed them warily.
