I don’t even bother going back downstairs, and instead crash on the bed.

For the first time in weeks, I dream of Logan. Why does it feel like a betrayal to Kai?

Chapter 26

Delaney

“Girl, you look so good!” Winter compliments, looking me up and down. “Your new man better watch out because all eyes are going to be on you.”

“Please.” I laugh. “I’m dressed as a nun.”

“A sexy nun. And with those fishnet stockings and hooker boots.” She fans herself. “If you weren’t my bestie, I’d be on my knees begging for a chance.”

“Stop it.” I laugh, shaking my head. “You look cute too.”

“Thank you.” She does a twirl, her Red Riding Hood cape flowing around her body.

“What about me?” Justin asks, stepping into the room.

We’re at the house in my bedroom, getting ready to go to a Halloween party. Winter wanted all of us to get ready together and hang out for the night. I was told Stacy wouldn’t be going to this party as she’s throwing her own.

I hate that I can’t just hang out with Elijah. He’s really sweet and fun to be around. I miss him. It’s been weeks since I’ve seen him, and I haven’t run into him at school or anything.

“You look hairy.” I laugh.

He puts the wolf’s head on. “What about now?”

“Makes me think of the shifter romance I’m reading,” Winter says.

Justin pulls off the head and cocks a brow at Winter. “Like, wolves?” Winter nods. “Do they like fuck and stuff?”

“Yes.” Winter laughs.

“In wolf form?” Justin’s eyes go comically wide.

“Sometimes.” Winter shrugs with no shame.

“Damn. That sounds kind of hot. So, I remind you of them, huh?” he asks, wiggling his eyebrows. “Does it make you want to reenact anything?”

I watch as Winter’s cheeks pinken, but she shakes her head. “No.”

Huh. Is Miss-I-Only-Like-Girls, maybe getting feelings for our funny best friend? Winter hasn’t outright said she was a lesbian, only her sexual preference. Maybe she prefers women but isn’t so opposed to men as she made it sound.

They have been spending a lot more time together, and I do think it’s cute that as soon as Justin found out Winter was going as Red Riding Hood, he picked the big bad wolf as his costume for the night.

“Shame.” Justin grins and then turns to me. “And what did I hear about you having a man?” He narrows his eyes at me accusingly.

Guilt hits me because he knows his best friend really likes me. And I really like Logan. But I also really like Kai. Hell, I still find myself thinking about Elijah and Owen, even if I don’t see them often. I thought time would help, but my head is still a mess regarding the guys.

“I’ve been kind of seeing someone.” I look away, pretending to fix my costume.

“Who?” he asks.

“No one you know.” At least, I don’t think he does. He doesn’t have World History.

“Does this guy have a name?” Elijah’s voice has me spinning around. Only it’s not him standing in my doorway, it’s Deadpool.

“Well, look at you.” Justin chuckles. “Don’t you fill out that costume well?”
