Running his hands over his face, he exhaled loudly. Caught up in raising his son and being responsible for him without Kelli in the picture had taken all his attention. He needed to plan for the future.

Being a member of Slag, anything could happen.

Today could've turned out differently. Blue could've opened fire. Bantorus Motorcycle Club could've ambushed the crew on the way back to the clubhouse. Moroad could hit any time. A cage driver could've run a red light and plowed into him ending his life.

The Feds were always right around the corner, waiting for Slag to fuck up. If he lost his freedom, he needed to make sure Tyr was taken care of for the rest of his life.

Right now, Coco took care of Tyr ninety-nine percent of the time when he was busy during the day. She was the main person besides him in his son's life. Even when they both worked, they took turns walking over to the clubhouse to spend time with him.

She'd gone over and beyond helping him, and she'd never once stepped into a parental role or tried to demean his position as Tyr's father.

He'd taken all the help he could get, and as he sat there thinking about her, he wasn't sure he'd ever told her how thankful he was to have her living with him. He needed to rectify that immediately.

The door swung open. Peer closed the records book.

Roar came into the room. "Squared away?"

"Ja." He picked everything up and carried it to the safe. "We've made what we set out to collect this time."

"That'll do for now." Roar patted his vest pockets. "Do you have a smoke on you?"

He reached into his back pocket and tossed the crushed pack on the table. "There might be one or two in there you can salvage."

Roar sat down with a heavy exhale. Peer pulled out his phone, checked to make sure Coco hadn't texted him, and walked to the door. "I'm going to take off."

"You're in a hurry." Roar studied him. "Everything okay?"

Peer shrugged. "It will be."

"Let me know if you need anything, brother."

He raised his hand in farewell and walked out. Tapping on the phone screen with his finger, he sent a text to Coco letting her know he was on his way home. He watched for a reply on his way out of the clubhouse and finally put the phone in his pocket. She was probably busy with Tyr. He'd witnessed her attentiveness to his son. Nothing around her existed while she was responsible for his care.

It was another thing he appreciated about her. And, her one-direction focus worried him.

He put on his helmet, started his Harley, and rode toward the gate. It was her dedication and focus that could catch her off guard.

He had no idea what Kelli would do now that she'd contacted him. All day, he'd worried she'd try and contact Tyr, and Coco wouldn't see her coming.

His biggest fear was losing his son. If that meant protecting him from his mother, he would keep Kelli away from him.

Far as he was concerned, the moment Kelli abandoned Tyr at the gate of Slag, she'd made her life choice. He'd never trust her again around his son.
