Page 50 of Peer & Coco
The ugliness and emotional displays was the reason she never liked Kelli. She found her immature, petty, and lacking self-esteem. It was why Kelli had held on to Peer so tightly when they had an on again-off again relationship. She'd never seen that Peer was fully committed to her or their future, but she also wasn't privy to what went on between them when they were alone.
Peer's gaze intensified. "Is that what you think?"
"Honestly? I try not to think about you two." She inhaled deeply. "I've always thought that if you have such anger toward someone, it's because they meant something to you at one time. Maybe, you haven't had time to get over Kelli. She is the mother of your child."
"I don't need to be reminded of that." He fisted his hands.
She softened her voice. "I'm not pushing you."
"Then drop it."
"I can't because she's contacted me twice. What happens next time she approaches me? What am I supposed to tell her? What am I supposed to do?" An ache came to the back of her throat. "It's unfair of you to put me in the position of dealing with your business when you should be the one handling the relationship between Kelli and Tyr."
His nostrils flared, and he narrowed his gaze. She stood facing him, upset that they'd had their first argument.
He turned away from her. "Can you watch Tyr?"
"I..." She stepped toward him and stopped. "Yes."
"Lock the door behind me." He grabbed his duffle and left the house.
She stood, staring at the door. Was he going to find Kelli and talk with her or had he left to get away from her?
