He pushed the contact on his phone, calling Roar. When the call connected, he said, "I need to find Kelli. Elling wasn't able to find her when she was away, but she's back."

"Okay. I'll put a call into Elling and have him work on it. Anything else?"

Peer walked over to the window. "You need to know she showed up at the same time as our visitor."

"I noticed the same thing and mentioned it to Brage," said Roar.

"What are your thoughts?"

"We stay aware. We've got a close eye on our visitor, and Elling knows if anyone, including Kelli, comes near him, it's a call of action. I don't think she could get within a hundred feet of him without us noticing."

Peer let the drape fall. "I should've realized before now that there could be a problem."

"You've got a lot going on. Slag is here to cover your back."

"Ja. Thanks," he murmured. "I'll let you go back to sleep."

He disconnected the call. Letting his hand drop to his side, he wondered if the end of his freedom would fall by the hands of his ex-girlfriend.

A slight noise or maybe a shift in the air alerted him that he wasn't alone. He looked over his shoulder. Coco stood behind the couch; a blanket wrapped around her.

"Who's your visitor?" she whispered.

"Huh?"

"On the phone." She blinked. "You mentioned Kelli showing up at the same time as your visitor."

He shrugged. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Peer." She raised her chin. "I heard you."

He walked toward her, biding his time. "The phone call?"

Her brows lowered. "Yeah."

"Elling has a visitor that's checking out Slag." He pulled her against him and wound his arms around her and the blanket. "You should be sleeping."

She tilted her head. "You're going to search for Kelli and not wait until she comes to you?"

"Ja." He kissed her forehead. "Let's go back to bed for a few hours, or we're going to be dead on our feet tonight at work."

He walked her to the bedroom. Club business couldn't be shared with anyone not wearing a Slag patch. He hadn't lied to her. Elling had a visitor. The visitor was the Federal Agent that Elling was following and keeping tabs on.

The rest of his conversation about Kelli...well, he'd like to wait until he finds out what Kelli wants before worrying Coco.
