Page 66 of My Demon Mate

I tip my head back and smile, so happy that this is now my life. Over a year ago, I didn’t think I would have something like this. I thought I’d be alone forever, abused forever, living a bleak life. A bleak existence. Thank god for my great great great great grandfather, or I would still be living that shitty life.

The people that made my life hell more than deserved what I did to them. Their souls should be stuck in the fifth dimension, being used by whatever demon wants to use them for whatever they want to use them for. Raven said we could have done that, but neither of us wanted them anywhere near us, even if the fifth dimension is as far away from Xendail as the Pluto is from Earth. Being on the same plane as me is too close.

“What are you smiling about?” Raven asks, looking down at me with his sparkling black eyes.

I exhale happily, leaning my head against his arm. “I’m just glad this is my life. You came along and changed everything for me. You got the revenge I needed, freeing me from my abusers. I owe you everything.”

Raven stops us, setting the basket down and pulling me into his arms. “No, my sweet baby. You made my life worth living. I was merely existing before you summoned me. Moving through every day listlessly. You gave me meaning and purpose. You gave me love. You gave me your heart. It is you, Everest. It is all you.”

Blinking back tears, I smile at him. “My sweet demon. What would I do without you?”

“Let’s hope we never have to find out.”

Raven gathers me in his arms and kisses me deeply. I return the kiss with all the love and adoration I can muster, hoping to show him with more than words how I feel about him.

When we break the kiss, I tell him anyway. “I love you so much, Raven. You’re my everything.”

“As I love you. For eternity.”

THE END
