Page 72 of For What It's Worth
We all turned to look at the door to the nest as if we expected her to open this door. My omega instincts were paying attention now, ready to defend my nest, my mates, if any female threatened to come in. Of course, that was fucking ridiculous, and I did my best to shove those instincts away.
“Should we answer the door?” I asked.
That seemed to get everyone moving, putting on clothes.
I stood awkwardly, not wanting to put on my clothes from school. They didn’t smell of my mates and even if they were cute, they weren’t as comfy as I wanted to be.
“What’s wrong, Orsetta?” Enzo was the first one to finish getting dressed and the first one to notice I still had all my clothes in my hands—minus my torn underwear.
“I want to change into something comfier.”
With your scent on it, preferably.
“Enzo, get our omega some clothes,” Jenson said. “Aidan, you need to go shower so—”
The doorbell went off again and regardless of the fact it made the same sound, it somehow came off as impatient.
Aidan sighed. “On it.”
He made it only two steps toward the door before I was running at him and forcing his head down for a kiss. His blond locks were long enough to grab, and I didn’t hesitate to tighten my hold on him.
My new bonded alpha wasted no time in meeting my ferocity in the kiss, his tongue pushing past my lips in order to taste mine. Aidan’s kiss didn’t completely take control, but he met me in my eagerness, letting me know he didn’t need me to submit to him.
Our tongues played with each other before I moved my lips away to nip at his chin. We were both breathing heavy, but I still rubbed my cheek against his, laying kisses down his jaw, his neck, until I got to the collar of his shirt.
Aidan’s hands cupped my cheek, pulling me back so I could look into his eyes. His dark green eyes started into mine, frantically searching for something. I did my best to push my feelings of Aidan toward the male so he could feel their truth through our bond. I was rewarded with a huge smile, and another chaste kiss on the lips.
“Get her a pair of my underwear. It’ll fit her best.” And then Aidan left.
I growled at him leaving my nest, but a new body came up behind me. Enzo. He turned me around so I faced him—and so I could only barely make out Jenson leaving the room behind me.
“How are you feeling, Orsetta?”
I parted my lips, ready to say, ‘fine’ but stopped myself from the careless answer. Enzo wasn’t giving into social pleasantries. He was legitimately asking how I was, and considering he could feel my emotions, I assumed he was trying to force me to reflect on the two humongous life choices I’d just taken on.
“I feel good.” I reached up and ran my fingers along his jaw, enjoying the stubble that had grown out slightly so it was more smooth than prickly. “Calm. Like I no longer have a single worry in the world. Anything is possible.”
My new alpha puffed his chest out, apparently very happy with himself, and it had me rolling my eyes. No matter what, I could never forget my males were alphas—not just in their designation but in their personalities. They were protectors and providers in a way every omega dreamed: helpful, supportive, and somehow both willing to stand by my side and behind me in my endeavors.
I leaned my head on his chest, placing a quick kiss on his chest. “How are you feeling? The bond’s only one way, you know.” Bonds allowed alphas to sense the emotions of whoever they claimed, but it didn’t work the other way. Apparently, biology just assumed alphas only bit omegas and omegas, with their incredible sense of smell, would be able to scent the changes in their emotions. And despite being able to scent his happiness, I couldn’t stop myself from needing to be sure he was as happy with me as I was with him.
Enzo purred, running one hand over my hair before gently tugging on the strands as a signal for me to lift my head. “Mi rendi il più felice del mondo.”
I didn’t know what he said, but the way he said it, with the tilt in his lips, had me blushing.
“Koda, I have clothes for you,” Jenson said, his voice muffled through the door. “Come put them on so Enzo can take a quick shower.”
Before I could follow Jenson’s directions, Enzo gave me a chaste kiss, biting hard on my bottom lip so it would probably be red for a few minutes. Perfect, that was exactly how I wanted to meet one of my mate’s mothers—with another male’s claim on my lip.
Enzo left just as the doorbell rang a third time. I felt bad having Aidan’s mother wait outside, especially since I was pretty sure it was already dark out. Although, no one seemed to be in a rush.
“Don’t feel bad, Koda.” Jenson handed me a pair of Aidan’s boxers with little buttons on the front pretending to be shorts and a large dark blue shirt with a little pocket at the breast.
I quickly changed, keeping my omega scented clothes in my nest.
“She’s been outside for a long time.”
“She wasn’t invited, so as far as I’m concerned, she can stay out there all night.”
