We just arrived.

Kareem will be there soon. I’m very excited to see you again. I can’t wait to hug you both!

“When we’re with other packs is there anything we have to be cautious about?”

“I’m not sure to be honest. We’re not here on an official visit. If we were there would of course be things to keep in mind, but we’re here to see our family. Although, people will probably be curious. I’m not sure if Ann has told anyone about your abilities or the girls.”

“What about you being an alpha’s son? Even if you’re second born?”

“I’m not sure how that will work out. I have no official title so I’m not expecting anything.”

“We’ll figure it out together.”

After thirty minutes, a slim figure with golden-brown hair appeared a little way down the road and walked toward them.

“Oh that’s Kareem,” she exclaimed and looked down on herself, her expression turning sour. “Let me change really quickly.”

“I think you look gorgeous.”

“You’re my mate, you have to say that.” She jumped off the truck and disappeared in the driver’s cabin.

He chuckled to himself as she quickly changed into the dress.

Just as Kareem walked into the parking lot, Niev climbed out again. She straightened her dress, her hair falling over her shoulders in messy waves.

Kareem apologized as he approached. “I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.”

“Oh, don’t apologize, Kareem. We had breakfast and enjoyed the view.” Niev spread her arms and Kareem embraced her in a hug. “Did you walk here?”

“Only a short way. I shifted at the base of the mountain.” He turned and greeted Blake next. “How are you two?”

“A little tired but good.” Blake could feel Niev’s excitement in the bond and quickly added. “I assume you would like to drive? Seth said the drive can be a little difficult.”

Kareem’s face turned amused. “Yes, it can be a little challenging at first.”

“Is it somewhere within these mountains?” Niev asked, looking up at the mountains behind them.

“About an hour and a half in. Shall we?”

Blake was curious about the drive, so he quickly closed the cargo bed and sat next to Niev who had folded down the middle seat of the truck.

Leaning against him, Niev curiously looked around as Kareem drove off. “How have you been, Kareem?”

“Very well, Ann has been keeping me up all night. She is very excited to welcome you both.”

“We are very excited too.”

“Alpha Raymond has provided you with a guest house close to us, but you are welcome at our home anytime.”

“That is very kind.”

Kareem drove onto a small dirt road leading into the mountains. It was quite a bumpy ride with blocks of stones to either side of the road. Though Niev was eager and looked around curiously, Blake could feel fatigue creeping up on her.

Knowing that she wouldn’t want to miss a thing, Blake tried to keep her awake by starting a conversation. “I assume it’s quite an adventure to provide for the pack with such a long drive to the next town.”

“It is, but we’ve found our ways around. The women, just like in your pack, leave once a month to buy groceries. Some even buy for each other. When we really do have a shortage of any kind, one of the men will usually shift and run. It’s much quicker and easier for us.”

“That sounds isolating. Well at least for me. I still think our pack is far away from everything.”
