After about an hour and a half, they’d made it back to the village. Blake shifted and they thanked Beta Fallon before walking over to Ann’s house. The door was open, and they could hear her busying herself in the kitchen.

“We’re back,” Blake declared as he stepped in.

Ann came out of the kitchen with a smile. “Did you two have fun?” Then her eyes fell on Niev. “Oh you poor thing come sit and rest. You look tired.”

“I am but it was really nice.” Niev sat on the couch and Blake quickly kneeled before her, helping her out of her shoes.

“Did you eat and drink enough?” Ann’s worried eyes studying her.

“Yes, more than enough, I just feel tired that’s all.”

“Do you want to go and take a nap?” Blake asked as he started to massage her feet, his hands kneading into her soles and calves.

She shook her head. “No, I’m good right here.”

Niev dozed off while Blake massaged her feet, holding a conversation with Ann. Her dreams drifted back to that tree high up in the mountains. She listened as the birds sang for her, while Blake’s large wolf cuddled up to her.

She only woke up when Blake’s voice drifted through.

“Wake up, beautiful.”

She fluttered her eyes open and saw his gorgeous smile shine down on her. She took a deep breath and inhaled his rainy scent.

“What time is it?”

Blake leaned back so she could sit up and look around. “Dinner time.”

“Oh, I only meant to take a short nap.”

Ann’s voice came from the kitchen. “You looked so peaceful we didn’t want to wake you up.”

“Is Kareem home already?”

Kareem’s head popped out of the kitchen. “I came back about thirty minutes ago.”

“Hi there.”

“Blake told me that you went for a hike.”

Niev nodded, slowly got to her feet, and walked to the kitchen with Blake close behind her. “Yes, we went to see the Goddess’ Tree. It was breathtaking.”

“Ah, it is. But I do believe all her trees are.” Kareem smiled and pulled a chair out for her at the table.

Ann was busy setting the food out. “I love them especially when they are decorated.”

“Do you decorate yours too for special occasions?”

“We do. Maybe one day you’ll see it.”

They ate while they chatted about the various ceremonies that they’d witnessed. Niev was slightly jealous, especially toward Ann because she’d been able to be part of the ceremonies of both packs. After dinner, Niev and Blake walked back and declared it an early night.

Just like their first morning on the Montanha Territory, they had breakfast with Ann. Ann loved their idea to spend the day at the lake and swim a little. So, after breakfast they walked to the same spot they’d picnicked at before. Blake set down their basket before stripping down and quickly shifting, his solid black wolf emerging next to her.

Niev reached up to him and ran her fingers through his fur. “Gorgeous as always,” she hummed as she buried her face in his chest.

‘I still love how you can’t seem to get enough of him.’

Leaning back, she smiled up at him. “Go test the water for me.”
