“Anything for you.”

“Will you call tonight again?”

“Of course. Let me know when you’re home and I’ll call you.”

“Say hello to Raymond and Charlotte from me.”

“I will.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too, beautiful.”

One Last Chance

Blake had left his father behind a few miles ago, running toward Niev as fast as his paws would let him. His father thought it was amusing. Blake, though, only wanted to hold his beautiful mate in his arms as soon as possible. As soon as he’d been able to feel her again, he’d run like a drug addict toward his next fix.

Niev was still asleep, her mind and feelings far away, though they seemed restless. He tried to keep his mind calm and steady as his muscles started to ache. Not only from the strain of the run, but longing for her touch. He didn’t want to wake her. At least, not yet.

He ran past Selene’s tree and over the little path that would take him home. Sadness threatened to push through his excitement, already missing Her tree. Bursting past the trees, he quickly shifted in front of their home and walked inside.

He found her in bed, cuddled up to a pillow that was wearing one of his shirts, her face buried in it. Unable to hide his chuckle, he leaned down and kissed her cheek.

“How about you cuddle the real me instead?”

Her eyes fluttered open, searching for him still half asleep. “You’re back!”

“Yes.”

She threw the pillow aside and spread her arms. Naked as the day he was born, he laid next to her and pulled her to his chest. Blake easily settled in to sleep, soaking in her touch and listening to the three heartbeats next to him.

The next morning, he woke up to an empty bed and the smell of bacon spreading through the house. Finally feeling the bond again calmed him from deep within. After a few days without her, he finally felt complete again. He pulled on some shorts and followed the mouthwatering smell to the kitchen where he found her wearing one of his shirts. Her bump showed beneath it, her legs and feet bare. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug and placing kisses all over her cheek and neck.

“I was going to cuddle with you till you woke up, but I got hungry and had to pee.”

“I was so exhausted I passed out. I didn’t even feel you get up.”

“I would suggest you go back and rest, but we have a date with Tristan and Olivia. We need to finish up some final preparations for tomorrow.”

“As long as I can be around you all day long, I’ll do whatever it takes.”

“Will you be taking Tristan out for a run or did Seth only do that for you?”

“I might ask him if he wants to go, but I’m not sure how anxious Olivia is. I will go talk to Terra though.”

“So, she doesn’t ruin their day?”

“Yes.”

“She is such a sweet girl. I just don’t know how Terra can’t see that.”

“If she can’t behave, I don’t want her anywhere near the ceremony or the gathering after.”

They ate breakfast together and then walked over to Tristan and Olivia’s home. Olivia busied herself in the kitchen baking a cake while Tristan struggled to put together the decorations. Blake joined him while Niev helped Olivia.

“She’s been so nervous,” Tristan whispered.

“Hopefully us being here will help her. Have you talked to your mother?”
