“You know if someone would’ve told me a year ago that we would be sitting here talking so openly about these things, I would’ve called them crazy.”

“I agree.” Seth’s eyes turned sad as they moved to Niev. “I think we have to thank you for it.”

Suddenly, Niev got up, her mind swirling through the bond, though Blake couldn’t quite tell why she was upset. She hid her face from them as she waddled into the kitchen.

“You two need to stop or have these kinds of conversations without me. I’m pumped full of hormones and you two are gonna make me cry like a waterfall.”

“Which is why I have lots of tissues around the house,” Blake chuckled, relieved.

“We don’t mind you crying, and we don’t think less of you because of it.”

“You two are being softies and it’s making me feel all kinds of emotions.”

Blake couldn’t help but grin. “I don’t think anyone has ever called Seth a softy without facing consequences for it.”

She returned with three water bottles. “I’m sorry, Seth.”

Seth shrugged it off. “Oh don’t worry about it, Luna Niev.”

“Oh gosh, don’t start with that!”

“Why not? Soon you will be called that by everyone.”

“Because it’s scary,” she admitted freely.

“Blake said you are doing a fantastic job making friends.”

“Yes, calling two of the warriors ‘big guns’ on my first day seemed to have done the trick.”

Blake quickly explained the story which made Seth burst out laughing, tears pouring from his eyes. After he’d calmed down, he gently smiled at her.

“You’re going to be great. Those things make you approachable and people like that. At the same time, you can put your foot down and put someone back into their place. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about.”

“He’s not the only one,” Blake chuckled agreeingly.

“Look, if you ever want to talk to someone about it besides Luna Charlotte, I’m sure Mother and Lyliann always have an open ear for you.”

“I think it’s just the thought of the traditional role that comes with the whole title that terrifies me.”

“Niev, no one expects that from you. I’m sure by now your pack knows you very well and they heard the things you’ve done in the past. They know about your upbringing and if Blake ever makes you feel like you should change, I’ll personally come here and beat him up.”

Blake crooked his eyebrow. “That’s how little you think of me? Fuck… that broke my heart.”

Before bickering could erupt, someone knocked on the door and Mayra popped her head in. “We brought dinner.”

Blake quickly got up and walked to the overflowing dining table. “Just set everything on the counter. We started talking and haven’t gotten to clear the table yet.

Dinner reminded him of home and a sadness spread within him. Niev felt the same and sought out his closeness and touch for comfort. As Niev sat on the couch with Mayra and Kareem, Blake joined Ann and Lyliann in the kitchen.

Leaning closer to them, he whispered, “Have you prepared everything for tomorrow?”

“Yes,” Lyliann whispered in return.

“We were doing the last preparations for it earlier. Just keep her away from Ann’s home until tomorrow afternoon.”

“I think that’s going to be easy. She has been very tired and has calmed down quite a bit.”

“She does look exhausted,” Ann agreed, worry painting her voice. “I just hope we are doing it right…”
