“I hate you.”
“I thought we established that already,” Ash chuckled, hiding how truly worried he was that he’d taken it too far.
Vel took her backpack and locked herself in the bathroom while the twins changed and ordered food.
Thirty minutes later, the shower was still running. “I don’t think she’s gonna leave us any hot water,” Ash laughed.
“Can you blame her?”
Ash shook his head and went to the door to accept their food.
He set Vel’s food aside and settled on the bed, giving Isaiah the couch. When Vel stepped out of the bathroom she glanced around, her annoyance turning into frustration when she saw her food on the bed—next to Ash.
“Why can’t you and Isaiah share the bed?”
“Because that’s where I draw the line,” Ash stated.
“So you share your mind and all your thoughts every second of the day, but sharing a bed is where you draw the line?”
“Yes and no one is going to sleep on the floor.”
“Why didn’t you just get a bigger room?”
“Because I’m a pain in the ass.”
“Clearly.”
Accepting her defeat, she sat next to him on the bed with her food in her lap. “I’m not going to share a blanket with you.”
“Fine.”
She cleared her fries, then slurped on the chocolate milkshake Ash ordered for her.
“Vel,” Isaiah softly started again.
She only glared in response.
“You don’t have to answer this one if you don’t want to.”
“I don’t have to answer any of your questions,” she clarified.
“True.”
She crooked her eyebrow. “So?”
He took a deep breath, needing to choose his words carefully. “Once you figured out we were your mates, did you seek comfort with Alpha Heath?”
“Yes,” she answered without a second thought.
“Did he know about us?”
“Somewhat. After I disobeyed him, he called me to him to scold me. Though once he calmed down, I guess he figured it out. I told him you were the ones I fled from.”
“But not about the bond?” Isaiah tried to clarify.
“No. He only knew about that when you went to him.”
“After you left that first morning, what happened between the two of you?”
