They ran the borders of the territory, Rayan filling her in on all the pack’s gossip.
When they got back around to her cabin, she tensed. She could already sense Isaiah and Asher waiting for her.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Isaiah
They walked out of the house side-by-side. It was still early, but Vel was nowhere to be seen.
‘We should’ve beaten him up,’ Ash rumbled.
‘That wouldn’t have done us any good.’
‘He fucking touched her. She is ours.’
‘She might be, but he is right, you know? We fucked up.’
‘We looked for her for weeks!’
‘That’s not what I mean, Ash. She somehow managed to run away and made us believe she was dead—because of how we treated her.’
Though Ash was enraged over the thought of that man touching his mate, he knew that what they’d done to her was much worse. Vel had looked into their eyes and disregarded the bond like it was nothing.
‘It wasn’t even disregard. It was like she didn’t feel it at all,’ Ash chimed in.
The two had always been close. They couldn’t remember a time where their minds weren’t linked.
‘She acted like we were a curse, not a blessing,’ Ash mumbled as they walked towards her cabin.
‘We probably are.’
‘Him fucking with her isn’t helping.’
‘He actually is. Do you remember everything he told us?’
Isaiah couldn’t help but chuckle to himself when Ash’s face scrunched up in confusion. Ash was so blinded by rage that he hadn’t paid attention to Alpha Heath’s advice.
‘What’s in your hand, brother?’ Isaiah asked him.
Ash looked down into his right hand. He’d forgotten he was holding anything at all. ‘Chocolate apparently.’
‘What kind?’
‘Caramel.’
‘Burn that image into your brain. We might need a lot of it to make her feel at home with us.’
Ash pulled his phone out to take a picture of the candy and send it to Ely.
Buy a shit ton of this.
Ok… Will you tell me what’s going on now?
We’ll call when we’re free.
I suddenly feel side railed as your beta but that’s alright. You two know what you’re doing.
Ash tucked his phone away and laughed. ‘We have to let him know soon. I’d rather not go through Swiftport by ourselves.’
