“Their existence bothers me.”

She knew that they were probably listening, but she didn’t care—she counted on it.

“Can we not talk about them, please?”

He nodded and let go of her. “Okay.”

They ran their usual route, which led them to the cliff right around the time the sun rose above the horizon. As usual, they took a small break there, but she had the feeling Rayan let her enjoy it just a little longer than usual. They patrolled the border until well after lunch, only stopping once they could no longer ignore their grumbling stomachs. On the way to the gym, they stopped at the den for a snack before joining everyone on the training field.

She’d asked Marvin if she could talk to them all, so he discreetly gathered them in one place. Marvin himself didn’t know, but he’d sensed that it was important to her so he hadn’t pressed.

Once the warriors were all gathered, he addressed what he needed to before he turned to her. “I believe Velora has something to tell us.”

She’d sat by the front of the group to begin with but couldn’t muster the courage to stand to deliver her news. So, she stayed put and braced herself.

“I’m leaving,” she stated with a slight quiver to her voice.

There was a moment of silence before the air rumbled with protests.

“Why?”

“What the fuck!”

“No!”

She sighed, unable to look them in the eyes. “I found my mates and we can’t stay here.”

“You what?” Leroy blurted out.

“Wait a minute…” Keelan slowly began. “You said mates—plural.”

“You have two?” Leroy pressed further.

She nodded.

“The visiting alphas?” Dan asked.

“Who else, dumbass,” Keelan laughed.

“Is she a fucking alpha magnet or what?” Dan teased.

“Dan!” came Marvin’s scolding tone.

“What? I can’t be the only one thinking it.”

“But you were the only one who made her uncomfortable,” Rayen defended.

“Sorry, Velora.”

She shrugged it off, thankful for their playful reactions.

“Why don’t you seem very happy about it?” Leroy noticed.

‘You are allowed to tell them,’ Rayan encouraged.

“I don’t want to leave,” she admitted, which wasn’t a lie.

“But you’re luna! And you have your mates, that’s like a thousand times better than what we could give you.” Leroy sounded like her personal cheerleader, and she couldn’t even express how much that meant to her.
