“Are you still coming to dinner?”

“Of course. How could I miss a fun evening with you?”

“Dad said you’re leaving us.”

“Unfortunately, I am.”

“He said that’s what lunas do: they go where their pack needs them.”

“And he’s right.” Velora was glad that he’d taken the initiative to tell them. “I wish I could stay here with you because I love you so very much, but I now belong with the Crystal Wolves.”

“Will you come visit us?”

“I will as often as I can.”

“Will Alphas Ash and Ice come with you?”

Velora couldn’t help but grin. Isaiah would love his new nickname. “Only if you’re nice to them.”

“They promised me they’d look after you.” She spoke softly, but Velora could hear the tears lurking just beneath the surface.

“That is very nice of them.” Velora sat up. “How about we go see Evelyne? I’m sure she needs our help.”

Mia eagerly jumped out of bed and pulled Velora with her. They found the twins waiting on the front porch. Asher leapt to his feet, while Isaiah studied her with worried eyes.

“We’re going to Evelyne’s,” Mia announced, waving for the twins to follow.

Mia took Asher’s hand and led him back to the village. Velora followed behind with Isaiah by her side. Though he was close, he wasn't as close as his brother would have been.

“Will everyone call Velora ‘Luna’ now?”

Asher grinned down at the sweet, nosy girl holding his hand. “Yes, but I believe we can make an exception for you.”

That had Mia bouncing on her toes. “How about… Warrior Luna Velora?”

Asher’s eyes lit up. “Ah, very clever. But it is a bit of a tongue twister. Maybe we can introduce her as such, but we’ll use Luna Velora, or even just Luna.”

“Rayan always called her Beast, but Velora said that’s only to tease her.”

“He does seem like a troublemaker,” Asher laughed.

“Are you a troublemaker too?”

“Yes, and Alpha Isaiah always has to make up for my antics.”

“I think that’s what Velora has to do with Rayan too.” Mia led them straight into the house without knocking and announced their arrival. “I’ve brought help!”

Evelyne was in the kitchen with Rayline sitting on the counter snacking on a banana.

“Oh, I’m not done yet,” Evelyne said, flustered.

Velora quickly stepped forward. “Please don’t panic. We’re here to help. I’ll just grab these two a drink and they can wait outside while I help you.”

Evelyne’s eyes flickered between the twins, but her panic didn’t fade.

Velora grabbed three glasses from the cabinet and opened the fridge to find a pitcher of lemonade. She turned to Mia, handing her two of the glasses. “How about you tell Alpha Asher and Isaiah all about the time when David was mean to you? Tell them what I told you to do when that happens.”

A mischievous sparkle lit up the girl’s eyes. “Yes!”
