His fingers were rough and coarse as he ran them down my arm, I guessed from the guitar strings. I slid my hands inside his t-shirt, his skin still damp from the gig and the run. My mouth moved down his neck and across his shoulder, I loved the salty taste of him. He felt decadent and wrong and yet so, so right.

“You sure this is OK?” he asked as he yanked my dress higher up my legs.

“Abso-fucking-lutely.” I removed my hands from him as I tugged the dress over my head and threw it to the corner of the room. He focused on my body as he launched his t-shirt in the same direction.

“I’m sorry I’m kinda gross from the gig,” he whispered in my ear as his hands circled my lower back.

I unfastened his skinny, black jeans. “I like you like this, you taste good. Your eyeliner is sexy, by the way.”

“So is yours.” He bit my neck, just a touch too hard, it caused me to suck in a deep breath as a delicious bolt of lightning shot between my legs. “Stop.” He grabbed my wrist as I went to tug his jeans down, and my stomach dropped. I felt ridiculous, foolish that maybe he didn’t want this.

“Sorry, I?—”

He cut me off with one more fiery kiss as he reached into his back pocket. “Don’t say sorry. I just wanted this.” He held up his wallet and threw it onto the bed. “Might need it in a minute.” He went to kiss me again, but I pulled back, confused.

“Did I… um… you know I’m not a prostitute, right?” A hot flush crept across me, I was mortified.

He laughed and wrapped his arms around me in a hug, an actual lovely hug; it felt good, I missed manly hugs. “I never thought that! It has condoms in it, that’s all.”

“Fuck. Sorry, I look like a right idiot now, don’t I?” I buried my head in his shoulder, seeking comfort from warm skin.

“Nah.” He kissed along my bare neck as rushed hands unfastened my bra. “You’re the sweetest, hot girl I ever met. Anyway… did you just say fuck? Shall we?” He pulled my face towards his, his mouth was back on mine in a split second. We were in those delicious moments where kisses were hot, hands were everywhere, steps were being taken towards the bed. Before I knew what was happening, I was on my back, and he was on top of me, every single glorious inch of him on top of me. His skin was hot and sticky under my fingers as I pulled him in.

With one hand, I reached out for his wallet and passed it to him, my lips smiling against his. I’d never been naked with a total stranger before, especially a sexy rock band stranger, this was insanely hot.

“Lily! What the actual!” Cassie shrieked. I sat bolt upright, and as I did so, my forehead crashed into Elijah’s with a thunk.

“Ow!” I rubbed the sore spot where we’d just collided as I looked over at Cassie, her hands on her hips in a furious pose. Elijah was looking at her too, but hadn’t moved from his position on top of me. All of a sudden, this felt as sleazy and awkward as it must have looked.

“Who’s your friend, Lily?” Cassie asked, the tone behind her voice stern and full of disapproval.

“Elijah…” I replied as my soul died a little.

“Hi.” In a confident move, he raised his hand in a little wave. He obviously wasn’t bothered about the interruption, and he also seemed to have no intention of moving.

“Can I please speak to you in private for a moment?” Cassie asked in her best schoolteacher voice. She stepped outside and closed the door behind her.

Elijah resumed his attentions, his lips moved down the center of my chest. “I have to go talk to her, sorry, I…” I blew out a long breath. God, but his lips felt nice. “Give me two minutes.” I wriggled from under him, grabbed my dressing gown from the end of the bed, and pulled it on before heading outside to Cassie.

Her arms were folded tight across her chest as she leant against a large tree in the garden.

“Who the hell is Elijah?!” she hissed at me as I approached.

“I met him in a bar. What’s the problem?”

“The problem is that you’re staying with me, bringing random blokes back. The kids could’ve walked in. This isn’t you… You don’t do random sex, Lily.”

“Well maybe I felt like trying something new,” I said defiantly. “Anyway, it isn’t blokes plural, it’s one bloke.”

“This isn’t going to get you over Zack, you know? How much have you had to drink?” She leant forward and sniffed me.

“Cassie, what’s your problem? If I want to get drunk and screw a guy, I will. Don’t take over from Zack and tell me what I can and can’t do.” I’d raised my voice without realising, and she returned the pitch.

“I’m trying to stop you making a mistake. You know full well you could call Luke right now, and he’d be here declaring his undying love for you again within minutes.”

“Don’t!” I yelled. “I don’t want him. You know I want Zack!”

Before she could reply, we heard a loud cough behind us. I turned and saw Elijah buttoning up his jeans. “Erm… I’m going to head back to the band.”
