“Knight.” He answered his phone on the first ring.
“Hey, it’s Ellis. The fucking douche canoe she had a date with last night put a tracker on her car. Sawyer and I just found it. Asshole had also flattened her tires. None of us caught it last night when we dealt with him.”
“He still in his trunk?”
“Yep. Still banging away screaming for help. No one around here is paying him any attention.”
“Good. Let me drop Avery off and then I’ll be there to deal with the fucker personally. Keep an eye out and make sure no one lets the fucker out of his trunk.”
Avery walked back into the living room as he was hanging up with Ellis. Fuck she was gorgeous. Not in a model or Hollywood way. She was homey.
She had red hair that flowed down her back. Piercing green eyes. Pouty lips and a pert nose. Her head reached his chest. She was plus size curvy. If he did decide to fuck her, she wouldn’t break when he got rough.
“I’m ready.”
“Great. Where do you work at?” Knight asked, thankful her statement brought him out of his daydream before he embarrassed himself.
“Biltmore Middle School over on Manchester St.”
“You teach middle school?”
“Yep. I teach seventh grade science.”
“You’re a science nerd?”
Knight was amused. The sexy teacher was a science nerd. This was going to be fun.
“I am. I love science and everything it can teach us. Especially in forms of DNA, forensics and psychology.”
“Ah. A crime buff science nerd.”
“Don’t piss me off. I can make you disappear and not leave a trace, mister.”
Fuck! He just came in his fucking boxers!
CHAPTER THREE
Avery came out of her school building that evening to find her car in the parking lot. She could tell it had been washed. She couldn’t help but smile. Shaking her head, she found a note on the car windshield addressed to her, telling her where to find the keys in science geek references.
As she was getting into her car, her phone beeped with a message from the dating app her mother and sister had talked her into joining. She saw another match and decided to check him out.
Her curiosity is what got her into the mess she found herself in two days later. This time she chose the restaurant in town. Not the one she had her last date in. She was afraid that she would run into Knight, and she already had to get new batteries for her bestie. Plus, it wouldn’t be fair for the guy she was on the date with to be compared to Knight when she really didn’t know anything about the man.
Ten minutes into the date, she was ready to forget dinner and go home. B rated slasher movies were more entertaining than this guy.
She was canceling her subscription to the dating app and removing it from her phone. All she’d gotten, since she’d joined, were unsolicited dick pictures that looked like an ugly naked mole, rude comments about her weight or demands for sex without the wining and dining.
Since they had arrived at the restaurant, the date has done nothing but complain about his mother and ex-girlfriend whom he’d just broken up with a week ago from her conclusion of his comments. When the waitress came to take their order, she started to order her usual until the date interrupted her and told the waitress she would have the grilled chicken caesar salad.
“Um, no. I will have the shepherd’s pie as I requested. If you want salad, then you can have it. Thank you, Lania.” Avery was done with this guy’s shit.
“You shouldn’t be eating a lot of meat. You need chicken and vegetables if you’re going to lose weight. You’re pretty but would be a knockout my dick would get hard for if you were skinny.”
“Seriously? I can see now why your lame ass is single. This date is over. Go fuck yourself!” Avery growled as she threw her wine in the guy’s face.
Storming out of the restaurant, Avery headed to her car and drove off. She stopped and got a burger, and a drink then proceeded to drive around for a solid hour before going home.
Now that she was home, her anger was once again turning into tears. Why she listened to her mother and sister, she’ll never know.
