“I did. The man who took out yours and took Delaney works for Mackey. He brought him in out of state to do what was needed. Word on the street, and I’m just hearing this today, is that Avery’s mother and sister sold her to Mackey a couple of months ago. She’s avoided Mackey’s traps like the plague. He sent in Green and his brother, who is also a schoolteacher at Avery’s school to bring her in, but she’s hasn’t fallen for anything with those two.”

“Wait a fucking minute! That fucking twat that came in while I was with Avery works for Mackey? He’s a recruiter, isn’t he?” Knight’s voice went cold.

The one thing they hated more than anything is someone who kidnapped young children and used them for the sexual fantasies. That’s why they didn’t go into the trafficking business. The girls that worked for them worked because they wanted to and they were well taken care of. They didn’t allow them to be on drugs and they had to be clean. It was a huge pet peeve of his and Donovan’s.

“Yeah. We’ve been trying to nail them both for years but, thanks to the captain and the chief, we’ve fallen short for a while now.” Adams confirmed, running his hands through his hair after rubbing his face.

“Let’s go hunting!” Knight smirked over at Donovan.

“If you’re going to go looking for Green’s brother, he’s in the morgue. Looks like Mackey is cleaning up and getting ready to run now that he has Avery and knows you’re going to come looking for him. Be careful. Me and a few of the guys believe he’s making a power play trying to take you boys out so that he can take over your turfs.”

“Knight, you’re officially off the leash.” Donovan advised his brother as he cracked his neck side to side. “I’m calling in O’Malley. He hates this shit as much as we do. Knowing that Avery is really his daughter that he never knew about, he’s going to give you a run for your money in the crazy as fuck department.”

“Wait, Avery is Patrick O’Malley’s daughter? As in the O’Malley out of Boston?” Adams asked in shock.

“Aye. Her mother never told the man. She got knocked up and ran from Boston and came here.”

“Oh shit! I’ll let the guys know to stay out of your way and we’ll deal with the cleanup. We’ll have a blackout when you let me know you’re getting ready to handle business.”

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Knight pulled up to the restaurant that had been the confirmed current location of where the chief of police and the captain were having a lunch meeting with the mayor and two other politicians, they had a deal with. They were about to shake things up and make everyone’s life very miserable.

What the men didn’t know is that Donovan owned the restaurant. It was under a shell company that would not be connected to them. Once they got the information they needed after frying these assholes, they had one last task to deal with. Knight was not looking forward to that one.

They needed to call Patrick O’Malley and let him know the truth about Avery Jones. The fact she was his daughter alone would bring the fires of hell down on Mackey. The fact he took the woman he loved, guaranteed he would die a slow painful death.

He would be loving the pain he got to inflict on that son-of-a-bitch. If he harmed one hair on his woman’s head, O’Malley would look like child’s play when he dealt with Mackey and his men.

Knight got out of the vehicle and stood on the sidewalk while Ellis opened the door for Donovan. Looking around he spotted the six men they had come in to surround the place. The other six would be dealing with the drivers of the men that were inside the restaurant.

When they stepped into the restaurant, the room went silent. They were a presence to behold when they walked in.

Power. Dominance. Raw masculinity. Dangerous!

Knight spotted the five men over in the corner that they liked to sit in and have their little pow wow sessions. Nodding towards them to show Donovan where they were, the three men prowled their way in that direction.

They knew the minute the five men realized they had approaching company, because their conversation abruptly stopped, and all five men turned in their direction. Good, let the fuckers sweat.

“Good afternoon, gentlemen. It’s truly a pleasure to catch all of you at once. Saves me the trouble of having to hunt you all down and deal with you separately. Now, where the fuck is my sister, Delaney, and where is Avery Jones. You have one chance, and only one chance to tell me the truth to save your sorry fucking lives. Choose wisely!”

Oh, Donovan’s evil side was coming out. It rarely happens these days. Knight was going to enjoy this. He and his brother worked hard to hide this side of them. Today is not one of those days. They were letting their demon out to play.

“Careful, Donovan. You forget who runs this city.” The mayor spoke up as he started to stand up from his seat.

“That would be me, mayor. If I recall you came to my office two days ago asking me to endorse you, both publicly and financially in your run for governor.” Donovan reminded the mayor who attempted to look like he was smarter than him.

“Yes, I did. Yet you didn’t give me that endorsement.”

“If you remember, I said I would consider it. You came to my office without an appointment and claimed your need to see me was important, therefore I accepted the request. I also said I would have my answer for you by the end of the week.”

“Oh, yes. That’s right.”

“Exactly. Senator Davenport and Congressman Green. Both of you are up for re-election as well this year and had your assistant send out letters asking for the same thing, if I’m not mistaken. You requested my presence as the fundraiser this year for your campaigns.”

“I-I don’t know about those. She sends them out to the people who donated the last time I ran.” Senator Davenport stammered when he was put in the hot seat.

“Ah, well, then let me formally inform all three of you personally. My family and I will be putting our full resources behind your opponent in the upcoming races. Good luck. Oh, and if you honestly think Mackey is going to protect you, and endorse you, you’re sadly mistaken. You see, these two assholes sitting here with you, assisted Mackey in kidnapping my baby sister and my soon to be sister-in-law.”
