“Sorry, I don’t know what’s happening to me.” She said, kissing him back just as hard. “I’ve never reacted this way before.”

“Music to my fucking ears.” He snarled, biting at her lip. “Because I’m the only one you better act like this with.”

He led her out of the woods, hoping his hard-on was hidden enough from the darkness. His cock pushed painfully against his jeans, and he wanted nothing more than to pull it out with a few hard yanks to relieve some of the pressure until he could be fully inside Sadie.

Seeing Alex heading their way at a fast clip, he cursed, pulling Sadie in front of him a little.

“What’s wrong?” She looked up at him innocently, but the dark desire was still swirling in her gaze.

“You got me so worked up that anyone who looks down is going to see exactly what we were doing in the woods.” He whispered with a wink.

“Oh,” Her eyes widened slightly, but a huge grin spread across her kiss-swollen lips as she stepped back, rubbing against his hardness.

“Yeah, oh,” He hissed, stepping back with narrowed eyes. “You’ll pay for that.” He growled but smiled when he turned his attention back to Alex. He had woken something inside her that he liked a lot. He couldn’t wait to see what else he could awaken inside her.

“Hey, we got a Shifter in the enclosure,” Alex said with a frown.

“Go tell Eric or Cole,” Kile said, then tried to walk around Alex.

“I can’t find them,” Alex informed him, looking worried. “She’s hurt, and she’s young. Larry is down there now.”

“Fuck.” Kile cursed, knowing his brothers were probably somewhere fucking their mates. Assholes. “I’m coming.” He informed Alex, who took off.

Kile took Sadie’s hand as they headed down the hill toward the enclosures. He slowed his pace so that Sadie could keep up with him. “Sorry.” He whispered as they came to the bottom of the hill.

“Do not apologize. She needs your help,” Sadie said, her voice concerned. “That’s what’s important right now.”

“You are something special, Sadie,” Kile said as they reached the enclosure. He stopped by Larry. “Stay right here.” He ordered, then looked at Larry.

“I just found her. I came down from the party to check the enclosures and found her.” Larry informed him. “I called Gemma, but she didn’t answer. I left a message.”

Kile’s eyes found the wolf. Their eyes met and held. He turned, walking forward, but didn’t step inside the enclosure. Finally, the small wolf looked away, putting its head down between its paws with a sigh as if not up for the confrontation. Stepping to the side, he noticed a dark patch on the wolf’s fur along its back. Concern had him stepping inside the enclosure.

“Get the medical supplies,” Gemma whispered from behind him. “Female or male?”

“Female,” Kile muttered, his voice low and calm as he approached cautiously. He quickly glanced toward Gemma, ensuring she was prepared if things went south. His senses weresharp, his muscles tense as he focused on the wolf in front of him. Its eyes followed his every move, but it remained still.

Eric stood a few paces back, his hair tousled and his shirt wrinkled. Lucky bastard, Kile thought, suppressing a smirk. Looked like he was right about where his brother had been and what he was doing. He moved a little closer to the wolf, keeping his hands visible and non-threatening.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said softly, his voice gentle. The wolf's gaze stayed fixed on him, watching, waiting. He could sense the tension in the air, but Kile was certain—if they approached carefully, things wouldn’t escalate.

The wolf's eyes closed slowly, then opened again, still not moving. Something was seriously wrong. More often than not, a Shifter or wolf would show some trepidation at being approached by a stranger, but the pain and sadness in this wolf’s eyes told him that it was giving up. Slowly, its eyes closed once again.

“Where is it injured?” Gemma asked from outside the enclosure, but Kile ignored her.

Kneeling, he waited for a second before speaking, his eyes roaming the area where the injury was. Because of the matted fur, he couldn’t tell how hurt it was.

“Just let me die.” A weak female voice resonated throughout his mind. Even when he wasn’t in wolf form, he could communicate with Shifters who were. “In peace. Please.”

Her words pierced his heart, triggering his protective instincts. “I can’t do that,” Kile replied softly. Her eyes opened slowly, surprised. “We save lives here.”

She blinked slowly, then whined in pain as her body jerked. Suddenly, her body began to shudder, and he knew she was shifting. He stood up, taking off his shirt, knowing she was going to be naked, and from the noise behind him, he knew they had drawn an audience.

Once shifted, she cried silently, trying to cover herself as she tried to talk. Kile whispered a curse, seeing all the bruises and cuts on her pale body. She couldn’t be more than eighteen. Averting his eyes, he cursed. “I’m Kile.” He said, knowing she was terrified. “I promise that you are safe.”

Holding out his shirt, he was relieved when she took it. “Tha...thank you.” Her voice was weak and shaky. He heard her gasp of pain.

“Can Gemma come in and help you?” Kile asked, still not looking in case she wasn’t covered. “I promise no harm will come to you.”
