Sebastian threw his head back in loud, mocking laughter. “I like her,” he said, amusement echoing through the clearing. “I really like this human.”

Suddenly, his laughter vanished as quickly as it had come. His hand shot out, grabbing Colton by the neck with alarming speed. With effortless strength, Sebastian tossed him aside like a rag doll. “Do not touch what is mine,” he snarled, his voice filled with dangerous possessiveness.

Sadie’s blood ran cold as he stared at her, like a predator eyeing its prey. His intense gaze made her stomach churn, but she forced herself to hold his gaze. Her instincts screamed at her to run, but her body was frozen with fear.

Movement at the edge of her vision drew her attention. The man who had abducted her stepped forward. “Listen, man,” he said, impatient, “I just want the money you owe me. You can do whatever you want with her, but I want no part of any of this. The bounty for her was fifty-thousand, and then I’ll be on my way.”

Sebastian didn’t take his eyes off Sadie, a cruel smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He clicked his tongue in disapproval. “Such disrespect,” he murmured, his voice soft and sinister, “will not be tolerated.” His gaze remained locked on her as if speaking only to her. The chill in his voice sent shivers down her spine. “Ask my sister, Char.”

Before Sadie could comprehend what was happening, Sebastian pulled a gun from his side. Without hesitation, he turned and shot the man who had taken her. The gunshot rang out, and in an instant, the man dropped to the ground, a bullet hole between his eyes.

Sadie’s scream tore through the night, her terror overwhelming as she stared at the lifeless body. Her entire body shook uncontrollably, her heart racing so fast she thought it might explode. She stumbled backward, but there was nowhere to go.

“Shush, now,” Sebastian whispered, placing a finger gently on her trembling lips. She recoiled from his touch, her eyes wide with fear.

“It’s time we get to know each other a little better,” he said with an evil smirk, his voice low and intimate as if they were sharing some secret.

Sadie’s heart hammered in her chest. She had never been more terrified in her life. All she could do was hope Kile would find her before it was too late.

CHAPTER 20

Kile shifted back into his human form. He quickly pulled on his sweatpants when the sound of a gunshot pierced the air. His heart stopped for a split second as a woman's scream followed the shot. Sadie.

Without thinking, Kile bolted toward the sound, his fear for Sadie driving him faster. Skidding to a halt, he saw the flickering firelight up ahead. His sharp eyes took in the scene instantly. A man was standing over Sadie, his finger pressed threateningly to her lips.

“Get your fucking hands off her!” Kile demanded, stepping forward. His entire body hummed with the need to kill the man who dared touch her. Kile forced himself to stay composed for Sadie’s sake. He could feel the presence of his brothers and others behind him, backing him up, ready for whatever was about to go down.

“That’s them,” Colton said, his voice shaking with rage as he pointed at Kile, Cole, and Eric. “That’s the one that took Lily from me.”

Sebastian didn’t flinch, his eyes still locked on Kile. “Will you shut up about that whore?” Sebastian growled, clearly irritated by his brother’s whining.

Kile’s focus never left Sadie. His chest burned with protective anger as he took another step closer.

“So, you’re the one who beat up my brother,” Sebastian said, his tone laced with amusement.

Kile growled deep in his chest. “I’m the one who’s going to do a hell of a lot worse if you don’t back the fuck off her right now.”

The tension in the clearing crackled in the air. But all Kile cared about was Sadie, who stood just out of his reach. He could feel her fear, and Kile silently vowed that no matter what, he wasn’t leaving until she was safe in his arms.

“Is that so?” Sebastian asked, his tone sounded bored. He reached out, brushing his fingers down Sadie’s swollen cheek. She flinched at his touch, and Kile’s blood boiled at the sight.

“He’s got a gun,” Sadie’s warning earned her a sharp slap on the same cheek, causing her to cry out.

Kile wanted nothing more than to grab the fucker and snap him in half, but knowing he had a gun, he continued to keep his control in check. His body shook with rage.

“Easy, brother,” Eric’s voice sounded to his right.

“That was a bad girl, Sadie,” Sebastian chided as he looked down at her in mock disappointment. He turned his attention back to Kile with a twisted grin. “But I don’t need a gun to beat this fool.”

Kile's lips curled into a snarl. “That’s good because no alpha I know would use a gun. Only pussies need a gun.” He began tocrack his neck side to side, his muscles coiled and ready. His voice was taunting, and he had an undercurrent of rage as he tried to distract Sebastian from Sadie. “Whose ass am I kicking, a man’s or a pussy.”

Sebastian’s eyes darkened, his smug expression fading as Kile’s words sank in. The tension between them hitting a boiling point.

With a deliberate and slow movement, Sebastian removed his jacket, tossing it aside. His eyes were calculating, assessing Kile with a predator’s precision. He then took off his shoes, placing them carefully beside the fire along with the gun, his movements methodical.

Without warning, Sebastian grabbed a burning stick from the fire and hurled it at Kile. The stick flew through the air, flames licking at its end before Kile knocked it aside with a growl. Sebastian didn’t waste a second. He charged at Kile, his large frame moving with surprising speed.

Kile was ready. He braced himself as Sebastian lunged, and with a fierce grunt, he grabbed Sebastian around the waist. He lifted him off the ground before tossing him away from the gun. Sebastian lay stunned for a moment.
