Devin’s jaw ticks. “Is your life just all about Mama?”

Feeling like a fool, I say nothing. He’s right. My mother is way too involved in my life, and that needs to end.

He stares me down. “Fiona’s not used to seeing herself all over the news like that.”

My ears perk at the mention of Fiona’s name. “Okay. And what did she say?”

Devin tilts his head, his brows furrowing. “What do you think she said? She’s Fiona. She’s pissed.”

His hand tenses around his glass, and he throws back the entire whiskey at once.

Ethan glances at his brother before turning his attention back to me. “Yeah, she’s got a strong personality.”

As I prepare to confront Ethan and Devin with my feelings for Fiona, my adrenaline kicks up a notch, surging through my veins like a wild river. While the whiskey works to calm my tension, my tongue loosens. “That’s why I love her.”

Both of their mouths drop open. Telling two massively huge and strong brothers that I love their sister shouldn’t be on my agenda, but It’s too late to reel it back in.

Ethan studies me and then cracks a smile. “Too hard to hide, isn’t it?”

“What?”

“Love.” His voice thunders across the table, making the party next to us turn around to stare. “You love her.”

Resting against my chair, I don’t deny it. “I’d do anything to make it right with Fiona and your family.”

Devin cracks his neck from side to side. “Yeah, you’re gonna do what’s right. You fuck this up, and I’ll throw your balls into my trash compactor and eat your bank account for lunch.”

The corner of Ethan’s mouth rises into a smile as he looks sideways at his brother before glancing at me. “Devin is just a tad protective.”

My adrenaline kicks up a notch. “I completely understand, and Fiona’s lucky she has you two on her side. But I love her, and I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it.”

Devin leans back against the chair before he comes forward again. “You’re gonna fucking get rid of that lawsuit. That’s what you’re going to do.”

I look him in the eye. “You have my word. The lawsuit is yesterday’s news. I don’t need to speak to Mother about it because it’s my fucking company. I decide who we sue.”

Silence hangs in the air before Ethan lets out a sigh. “That’s what we want to hear. You know, it’s funny. We’re involved with each other in so many ways. What should we call you? Cousin-in-law? Business partner?”

Straightening my back, I lay a suggestion on them. “How about brother-in-law?”

Devin’s eyes flicker before he looks away. When he looks back at me, a slight acknowledgment filters through his amber orbs. His jaw tightens as he finally nods to show approval.

Ethan looks from Devin to me as the corners of his mouth rise. “Or maybe just… brother?”

“Brother. I like the sound of that.” Warmth relaxes my shoulders. “Alright, gentlemen, if you’ll excuse me. There’s something I need to do.”

Chapter 8

Fiona

Steppingoutoftheshower, I hear the chime of the tablet on the wall. Rolling my eyes, I towel off. Another unannounced visitor?

Whoever it is, I’m in no hurry. The last two visitors I had up here were hardly worth my time.

But what if it’s important? Sighing, I throw on some leggings and a gray t-shirt and walk over to the tablet to see the security guard’s picture.

“Hello, Miss Wolfe. I have Lorelle Lane here to see you again. Should I send her up?”

Sudden rage pours through my clenched fists. “No, you should not. You can tell her I’m busy handling her lawsuit.”
