Page 87 of Always Meant To Be

My eyes go to the pictures on my desk, and I smile. I’ve added to them since last year. Several are scattered across the surface; one of Luca smiling wide at the camera as he sits on his own,one of my wife and son at the beach in the Hamptons, one of the whole family at the barbeque last week—the number of pictures grows, but I don’t mind.

I sigh at the barbeque photo. We were celebrating Liliya’s birthday.

I wasn’t keen on it—well, no one was, really, not even her father—but El demanded it. She said Agy could rot in hell, but she wanted to celebrate the life of the sister she was before everything changed.

According to Anastasia, after El was taken, Liliya blamed herself and got it in her head that she was the worst of the worst. She went from a child who was grateful to have two loving parents, to a spoilt brat, demanding attention.

In her mind, El never should have been taken. She needed psychological help, and instead of getting it, her mother overcompensated, creating the monster she became.

My phone rings and I grab it, chuckling when I see it’s Leonardo.

“Yes?” I answer.

He growls, “I’m leaving. Hol has an appointment to see how far along she is and wants me there.”

I grin. “And here I thought you’d be excited….”

He huffs. “We both know I didn’t want this yet, Romeo…”

I wince. “Don’t let your wife hear you saying that shit, fratello. You knew she was going to punish you for kidnapping her; this is it, and if her hormones are anything like El’s was, God fucking help you.”

He groans, “But I just wanted a little time with me and her before we had kids….”

I shrug despite him not seeing me, and say, “Well, she wanted her revenge, Leo, and she got it.”

He grumbles, “Why couldn’t Maya do this? Why did it have to be my wife?”

I laugh. “Because Maya isn’t ready for kids yet, and Antonio is happy with however long she wants to wait.”

He groans again before hanging up, and I laugh, putting my phone down.

The idiot.

We were all wondering when Holly would get her revenge on Leonardo. Years he fucked around while trying to pursue her, wondering why she wouldn’t just give in—all while hurting her. He kidnapped her and forced her to marry him.

Having a baby now instead of two years from now is her revenge, but I know once he hears the heartbeat, he’s going to be one happy fucker.

I know I was.

I smile a little and grab the next folder. The sooner I get this done, the sooner I can get home. All the illegal businesses are good; there’s no rat to deal with and no mafia business needing attention, which means my whole focus will be on El and Luca.

I’ve nearly completed all the accounting documents when my office door opens suddenly, and I growl, ready to hit whoever interrupted me, only to grin wide when I see who’s barged in.

I lean back. “Didn’t your parents ever teach you to knock?” I ask.

Elena grins wide, walking my way, her yellow sundress, swishing with her movement.

I push away from my desk when she nears and grab her hips as she straddles my lap before I grip her long, white-blonde hair, bringing her face to mine.

I kiss her hard, and she instantly opens for me as I push my tongue into her mouth, tangling it with hers.

I groan as she moans, and I hold her tighter to me, her tits pushing against my chest.

Slowly, she breaks the kiss, pecking my lips a few times, making me smile. I rub my nose against hers and ask, “To whatdo I owe this pleasure, farfalla, and which grandparent stole our son?”

She grins. “School was half-day today, and I wanted to see you, and he’s with our mothers.”

I chuckle, not surprised. My mamma and hers spend at least an hour a day with Luca if she’s not working, wanting their time, and last month was the first time El allowed her mother to watch him on her own.
