“Okay.” Ollie took my hand and let me guide him. “I’m happy I stopped being a dumbass.”

I held back the chuckle that wanted to burst out at his comment. “You aren’t a dumbass. But I am happy you’re here.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah,” I said. “We can finally have our first date.”

Chapter Six

Ollie

A pile of three pairs of jeans, five sweaters, and six tees laid on my bed at the Romano pack-coven house where I was staying. Unsatisfied with how I looked in every one, I kept adding to the collection of discarded clothing.

What do you wear to a date with your fated mate?

Nothing.

Shush,I told my horny dragon.

Rising frustration forced me to finally settle on my skinny black jeans and a plain black Henley. In the past, I received compliments on how I looked in all black with my hair.

I still had an hour until Wolf was set to pick me up. Some time with my best friend was in order.

Me: Tell me I’m being an idiot, and everything will be fine.

Alec: You are being an idiot, and everything will be fine.

Me: I told Wolf he could take me to dinner.

Alec: Finally. Where is he taking you?

Me: I don’t know. I told him to surprise me.

Alec: What are you doing after dinner? (wink)

Me: Exactly.

I sat by the desk and checked my emails, wondering what was happening back at headquarters while I’ve been gone. There wasn’t anything in my inbox that held my interest. Would Alec have any gossip to share?

Me: How’s everything back there?

Alec: Same as yesterday and the day before. Miss you.

Me: You could always come to visit me.

Alec: I might have to take you up on that offer. Wolf have any single alpha brothers?

Me: He has single cousins. And the coven, pack, and clan all mix so that you can pick dragon, wolf, or witch.

Alec: Booking my tickets in the morning. I’ll send you my plans once it’s finalized.

I spent the rest of the time waiting for Wolf, reviewing everything again. Tomorrow, I would have to start thinking about the attacks and finding out who was behind them. But I was dedicated to my mate and our relationship for the night. I messed up when I ran away last year. Now was my chance to have what I almost threw away.

Wolf took me to an excellent Japanese restaurant. I wondered momentarily if one of his abilities was to read my mind. I had wanted sushi tonight. Low lighting, a faint trace of music playing, and tables separated by tiny walls created an intimate atmosphere. Perfect for our first official date.

“How did you know I loved Sushi?”
