“I can’t believe how amazing this place is.” Leo walked slower as he admired our surroundings. The safe house was built in the middle of the woods with older trees and bountiful wildlife around us.
“This really is a beautiful location. But it’s not as stunning as you.” We walked up the steps and onto the front porch. A bench swing hung in the corner and a small seating area that would be perfect for sitting with your morning coffee and watching the morning begin.“Do you want to head inside and see what the cabin offers?”
“I can’t wait.”
Opening the door, I entered before Leo to check the area before he came in. Willa and Dean stood outside to watch usfrom behind. They would be staying a couple of hours to help us settle in and then drive back to the precinct and work the case with the humans. The guards should have explored the cabin this morning and made sure all was secure, but I wasn’t going to assume it was done. It was my job to keep Leo safe, and I would make sure it was done correctly.
Allowing Leo into the house after I had fully checked the inside, I gave him a tour of the inside. I had been to this location for prior cases, and it was one of my favorites. I hoped my mate found it just as pleasing.
“This cabin is amazing.” Leo turned in a circle and took in all the features of the interior. “The colors are so welcoming and calm. I feel like I just came home.” I felt the same way about the blues and browns of the design.
“I’ve loved this location since I first visited.” I turned to face my mate. “Let me get our bags, and we can unpack and familiarize ourselves with the house.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Leo gestured toward the door. “Need my help?”
“No.” I kissed his cheek and walked toward the front door. “I’ve got it. Why don’t you go see if there’s any food in the kitchen? The guards should have stocked it for us.”
“I’ll make us a small snack.” Leo headed toward the kitchen. “Willa and Dean sticking around?”
“They are. Make the four of us something quick and easy if you can. Thanks, babe.”
Leaving Leo in the house making up a snack platter of some kind, I grabbed our bags from the car. We hadn’t been able to go back to Leo’s place and get much, but we grabbed the basics and added a few things from a store stop on our way up here. Hopefully, we wouldn’t be here for too long.
“The exterior is cleared.” Dean came up behind me and grabbed two bags. “Willa went inside already and I told her I’d help you get everything inside.”
“Thanks.” I slammed the trunk closed and juggled the bags in my hand to make sure I had the keys and everything I would need. “Let’s go put these upstairs.”
After placing our bags in the main bedroom on the second floor, Dean and I joined Willa and Leo in the kitchen. They had found the makings for sandwiches and a fruit platter. I kissed Leo in thanks and sat in the chair next to him at the high-top table in the corner.
“This is really good. Thanks,” Dean said around a full mouth of food.
“Dude.” Willa nudged his shoulder. “That’s nasty.”
“Sorry,” Dean grumbled, which was odd since he usually would have had a snappy comeback for his partner’s complaint.
“Are you guys heading back tonight?” Leo grabbed his glass of water and drank half of it. “There seems to be enough room if you need to stay the night.”
“Nah.” Willa swallowed her bite of food before answering. “We have to meet up with the team early tomorrow morning to review footage and interview a few suspects. We got a call from the captain on our way up here that they were able to question a couple of the neighbors who saw a group of men enter the building around the time the coroner estimated the death. They had them look at pictures of known criminals in the area. We have possible matches in two of them.”
“That’s great.” Leo smiled. “I want to get this case solved and the killers to justice. Maybe then I can go home.”
“We will.” I squeezed his knee under the table. “For now, let’s pretend we are just on a nice vacation—a mating honeymoon.”
“Just wait until we leave to get to the mating part,” Willa joked.
“Or—” Dean’s mouth was quickly covered by Willa’s hand. The man liked to watch, according to the gossip at the agency.
“We’ll wait.” Leo blushed. He was adorable.
I didn’t know how long I could wait. I wanted my mate.

Gliding my hand down Leo’s body, I grasped his thickening cock and began to stroke. His had already wrapped about my own hardness and was sliding up and down in a rhythm that brought tingles to my spine.
“Good morning, mate.” My lips met his in a passionate kiss.
“Morning.” Leo stretched next to me, leaning closer to me in the end. I still felt he was too far. Maybe if I were inside him, he would be close enough.
