Mr. Morrelli remained silent as the other agents took him from my mate. I guess the man did have more sense and brains than I had been crediting him with.
“Leo.” Ashton rushed to my side to untie my restraints. “Did he hurt you? I will go after him right now and tear off his head if there is one scratch on you.”
“They didn’t hurt me.” I closed my eyes and relaxed into his embrace once I was free from the ties. “And any marks on me are from the accident. But honestly, I feel fine.”
“We need to get you checked out by a doctor. And then we need to head over to the station and ensure everything is over with.” Ashton kissed me briefly and leaned his forehead on mine. “Never scare me like that again.”
“I’ll try not to.” I poked my mate in the side. “But don’t ever make me think you were dead again. I swear I won’t survive it again.”
“Never.” Ashton kissed my lips. “Let’s go, baby. Because I need to finish this and confirm you are okay.”
“And then after that,” I said. “I seem to remember you owing me a night of mindlessness and pleasure.”
Ashton closed his eyes and growled. “Did you have to remind me of that when I am surrounded by all these agents and can’t act on that?”
“Yes, I did.” I smiled and headed toward the door. “Come on, Ash. I have plans for the night.”

“But I’ll make you feel so good.”
“Some of us are single, you know. Can you hold off on this foreplay until you are alone?” Dean grinned from the doorway.
“Tell my mate that,” Ashton said. “I’m trying to get us to the doctor.”
“We have him right outside in the ambulance with a traveling ultrasound machine. Once Leo is checked out, we can head over to the station and tie up all the loose ends.” Dean led us to the waiting vehicles. “Good luck. I know the baby will be fine.”
As Dean walked away and Ashton led me to get checked out, I realized one thing. My anxiety was gone, and all I felt was relief and excitement. My mate and I were together and we were having a baby. Who would have thought getting nabbed and held against my will was the answer to clearing out all the doubts over the future?
“I love you,” Ashton whispered as he helped me up into the truck.
“I love you, too,” I said. “Now, let’s see our baby.”
Chapter Sixteen
Ashton
I was barely hanging on while we detained all the individuals involved in Leo’s kidnapping and Harvey’s murder. The only thing we couldn’t wrap up yet was the mysterious witch who had helped them pull off as much as they had. We would still search for her to find out exactly how much involvement she had. GSC couldn’t allow witches and shifters to roam free placing memory spells on people to cover up crimes.
We spoke with GSC and purchased the safe house from them. I wanted to share my life with my mate in the home where we had started, and our child was conceived. Finally, I had my mate home and safe. As soon as we entered the living room and locked the door, Leo jumped into my arms and wrapped himself around me.
Leo nibbled my ear. “All I can think about is getting you naked and inside me.”
My mate’s words had me instantly shifting focus from calming my beast to getting us naked. I growled when I thought of having to travel to the bedroom.
“I don’t think I can get us upstairs fast enough.”
