Page 54 of Hide From Me

Zeid and X knew already. We just had to win the top fight of the night and that was me. The thing was? I wasn’t chill like they had assumed. I was fucked in the head, and even if my cock was compliant, I didn’t know what the fuck to do with Rylee any more than I had when she’d been under me.

I thought I would know or that it would all seem clear, but I was wrong. She was confusing me. What was the best way to handle her? She was already so intertwined with the Spectors that this shouldn’t have been an issue, but I had fought to keep her away.

I walked with X and Zeid and stopped as they announced the next fight. X winked at me and headed out. Zeid’s younger brother stood at the edge of the ring. He would be there for the three of us, but Zeid wanted him to live as normal a life as possible. It would have been funny if I hadn’t tried to do the same thing with my little blossom.

But maybe I hadn’t. She’d come right back to me like a boomerang. I was starting to think we could never truly leave each other. It was a good thing I hadn’t known what to do with her all those years ago. She had no idea how close I’d been to being pulled into her orbit.

The bell rang and X bounced around on his feet. He’d already won two of the three rounds and the other guy was barely standing.

We were close to the end of this thing. Two more fights. Zeid and I were saved for the last two because Zeid was fucking scary, and me? I hadn’t earned the respect of everyone because I was kind.

The crowd screamed and cheered.

I looked over to the section that had chairs where only special invitees were allowed to sit. Gran sometimes came. Sweet little lady who understood just what we all had to do to stay on top. She wasn’t here, but something else caught my attention. Gransometimes let her employees sit where she would have. It didn’t bother me much. It wasn’t like we sold fucking tickets. We made money off the flowing drinks, drugs, and bets. But that wasn’t what had me balling up my fists.

“Is that our little babydoll?” Zeid asked.

Fuck.

“What the hell is she doing here?”

She was standing, talking with the other girls. I recognized all of them. All Spectors or loyal to us anyway. At least there was that. But what fucking had me ready to run out in the arena was the way she smiled at someone who wasn’t a fucking Spector. Hell, even if he had been, he wasn’t me. She wasn’t allowed to smile at anyone else. Shit. Why hadn’t I kept my phone on me? I would have seen this coming.

“I’ll be right back.”

I didn’t bother listening if Zeid said anything as I stormed out from the lockers. This whole warehouse was a shithole, but that didn’t fucking matter. It made money regardless. But why was she here?

I stopped as I watched her smile at him. What the hell was she doing? I wasn’t even processing who she was looking at. Who she was fucking flirting with until I got right up in his face.

“Go to your own section.”

He smirked.

“She’s a free agent. No one’s marked her. So fuck off, Cas.”

I glared, but fuck, he was right.

“Oh, hi, Cas. Fancy seeing you here. I assumed you were busy tonight. Hard to say though.”

I should have just been happy her eyes were on me.

“Do not talk to this Raven fuck,” was all I said.

This guy, the second in the Ravens pecking order, didn’t so much as blink as she smirked at me and turned back to him.

“If men just understood how to be honest, maybe the women in their life would be more loyal.”

This was my fucking opponent. What the hell was she doing?

He smiled back at her.

“Meet me after the fight and I’ll show you just how honest I can be.”

I pushed him aside and leaned into her ear.

“I don’t know what you are playing at but remember who was between your legs just hours ago.”

I couldn’t stop myself as I sniffed her. Her scent was my own drug of choice and as fucked up as it was, I could still smell the scent of sex on her.
