Page 31 of Craving Demons
The elevator dinged, and the door opened. Inside was Grey… with Ana.
“Ana?” I said, excited to see her, not sure why Grey might be with her. I hoped they were just coming down together, nothing more.
“Fuck,” Ramsey hissed behind me.
“Fen?” Ana smiled at me.
There was something different about her. Well, there was the gorgeous burgundy dress she was wearing, which hugged her full curves and gave an excellent view of her cleavage.
I felt my cock stir and start to rise… but that’s when I realized what was truly different. Her aspect wasn’t overwhelming me, making me rage with desire.
And seeing her, for the first time without all of that, I knew she was the one for me. Her aspect may have drawn me in last time, but without it, I could see her true beauty. All I wanted was to hold her close and kiss every inch of that tall, statuesque body of hers.
“You know him?” Grey muttered.
And instantly I sensed the tension solidifying around me. Something was up. Unseen, but very palpable friction snapped between the two other men.
“What is it?” I asked.
Grey looked to Ana, then back to me. “You want us to keep him away?”
Away? Why?
“No!” Ana said quickly. “I know Fen, and we hit it off. You don’t need to do your little act for him.”
Act? Also… she thought we hit it off too? That was the best news I’d heard in centuries.
“I was on my way to see you,” I said with a grin. “You look amazing, by the way.”
Those pale cheeks of hers colored with a rosy blush. “Thank you.”
“She’s off limits,” Ramsey grunted behind me.
Ana shot him a look filled with daggers. “That’s not for you to decide. Why can’t he join our little game?”
Game? What was going on here?
Grey and Ramsey glared at each other for a long moment. I wasn’t surprised, they’d never gotten along. What did surprise me was that they seemed to be working together on something for Ana.
Grey shrugged. “He’s powerful enough, another prince like us. It couldn’t hurt.”
Ramsey muttered something I couldn’t hear but ended with “Fine.”
“What am I a part of now?” I asked, still curious about this strange encounter.
Grey looked around, but there were no other daemons about. “We’re protecting Ana. Her aspect can get a little out of control. Right now, Harmonia is helping to keep her in check, but that won’t last. So Ramsey and I are pretending to fight over her, hoping that will keep any other daemons away.” He cocked his head. “Speaking of which, if you met her before, why were you not affected by her out-of-control aspect?”
I smiled and winked at Ana. “Oh, I was. I felt it even before I saw her and had to investigate. It wasn’t easy to endure, but when you’ve been suppressing a beast like mine for over a thousand years, you learn a thing or two about self-control.”
Grey nodded. “Ah.”
“Beast?” Ana asked, looking just a little worried. “You’re one of them? One of… us? A daemon?” She seemed surprised. Though the way she saidusmade me think she hadn’t known she was a daemon until just recently.
I shrugged and nodded. “Perhaps a proper introduction is in order. “I’m Fenris, Lord of Destruction.”
Her eyes widened. “Destruction?”
Yeah, it was a bit of a heavy title.
