Page 45 of Craving Demons

Okay, so maybe I’ll make a few exceptions. It may take me a while to find out who I am. I can’t go without sex that whole time, now can I? Nothing serious just… maybe have a fling or two. I’m mostly off men, with a few… get-off men.

Horny me just gloated at that.

I didn’t care.

Fen was hot without being intimidating and dangerous like Grey and Ramsey. Also, he wasn’t a bad boy — I didn’t think — so he’d be okay to play around with a little.

At least that’s what I told myself.

Once I’d picked something out, I realized I was running late if I wanted to get to work early. I dressed, snagged a couple slices of bread and an apple from the fridge, then caught a cab to work, all the while reveling in this light and flirty feeling fluttering inside me, a welcome relief from the terror and confused lust, which seemed to have been my norm the past couple days.

If Ramsey could get this seer person to help Donny tomorrow then between that and lunch with Fen, tomorrow was going to be a very good day.

ANAIS

“Okay, Harmonia, work your magic,”I said sauntering into her office. I was so excited about tomorrow that being a daemon didn’t bother me at all right now.

She looked up from the papers on her desk and smiled. “I felt you coming. I think you’re getting stronger.” She rose and came around her desk to me. “Oh yes, definitely stronger. Wow,” she breathed, flushed and shaky.

“Then you’d better turn it off, or I think I’m going to feel you coming in a moment,” I joked, and she gave a breath of a laugh before putting her hands to either side of my head and doing her heatwave-magic thing.

After a moment, she sighed, and I felt just a little less sexy. “That’s better.”

“Good, now teach me how to control this sex aura of mine.” I was adamant. I could do this. A few hours and I’d have it mastered. Sure, I’d never been good at learning and studies, but this was all about sex and I’d always been good at that.

She laughed again. “You seem brighter and cheerier today. Have you accepted your daemonic side?”

“Yup!” In this moment I felt confident enough to say so.

“I don’t know how much I can teach you in a few hours, it usually takes months of working with a young daemon as they slowly come into their power to help them control it.”

“Well, I’m not young, so this should be easier.” I didn’t really know the logic behind that statement, but it made sense to me.

She blinked. “You really are different today? What’s changed.”

“Do you know a man — actually, I guess he’s a daemon — named Fen?”

Harmonia nodded, smiling. I think she sensed my attraction to him. “Yes. He does have that Norse blond-and-blue thing going for him, very attractive.”

“Yeah, and apparently, he’s a chef?” Perhaps she could provide some clarity on that point.

“Yes, he works in demolitions during the day and runs a restaurant at night. It plays to his two aspects of destruction and devouring.”

Devouring? That was… I didn’t know what to make of that.

“Well, he invited me to lunch tomorrow, and I’m excited to go, but I don’t want my power to make him feel awkward. So let’s master this thing!”

“Ah, I see.” She directed me to a chair. “Have a seat and let’s see what we can do.”

She sat on the edge of her desk. Her black hair was up in a bun, and she was wearing a white blouse and black pencil skirt to mid-calf.

“Let’s start with this,” she said. “Where do you feel your power when it’s on?”

“Feel it?” I blinked. “I don’t really feel it at all.”

Her brow furrowed at that as she scowled for a moment. “Nothing at all?”

“Nope. Well, I felt it just now when you calmed it. I felt just a little less sexy, but before that, I hadn’t really noticed it.”
