I scooched over to the bedside table and the lamp there, turning it on, then went back to Ramsey. The spots I’d been trying to heal were indeed cured, the skin looking smooth and healthy.
It then took me a while to manhandle that massive form of his to roll him over so I could take a look at the rest of him. He still had a few cuts and bruises, but there were no more of those nasty acid-burn spots. Except he’d mentioned something about poison, and I wasn’t sure if it was completely out of his system. I needed to know how he was feeling.
So, I slapped him.
He groaned, seemingly semi-awake when he mumbled, “Yeah… I like it rough… hit me again.”
Just for fun, I did, though not as hard.
“Wha—?” he gasped coming fully awake.
“So, you like it rough, do you? Want me to slap you around next time?”
I was leaning over him, upside down from his perspective and he smiled up at me.
“You bet.” Then he blinked and cocked his head. He rose slowly and looked himself over. “I feel a lot better. You healed the poison?”
I shrugged. Apparently I had. “Guess so.”
He nodded to himself. “Everything else is minor, I’ll be fine. But if you’re feeling up to it Grey could probably use some help.”
I sighed. No rest for the weary.
My sigh must have sounded really bad, because he shifted, coming to kneel on the bed with me. “Grey can wait a little, he’s not that bad off. Just a torn-up leg and lots of bumps and bruises. If you needed…anythingto help you recover, I could…?”
Yeah, I knew what he wanted to give me to help me recover. “No, I’ll be fine. If you make me orgasm, I’ll probably just feel all warm and contented and want to sleep again. I’ll heal Grey first. You can give me all the orgasms you want… later.”
He grinned. “Promise?”
“Promise.” I kissed his hard lips, teasing him — and me— before sliding off the large bed. “So ah… where am I going? Where are we?”
He stood. “I’ll show you. We’re at Grey’s place. It was closest.” He opened the door and led me out into a hall.
“Is Donny here?”
“Yeah, and according to him, the gems he took are worth between five hundred and seven hundred million, depending on the buyers and other factors. You’ve got what you need.”
“Great,” I replied. That was one less thing to worry about. “But we’re returning the rest. I don’t want to give Mammon any reason to come after me. He may be a creepy-ass, back-stabbing shithead, but we’re not. We deal fair.”
Ramsey frowned at me. “The bastard’s not worth it, just keep the extra.”
“No, worth it or not, I won’t steal from anyone. We take what’s ours and return the rest.”
Ramsey raised his hands. “Fine, your call.”
We passed several other doors before exiting the hall into a massive living area. The large bank of windows covering two walls revealed a massive deck which included an infinity pool.
Beyond that, the many lights of New York were blossoming to life below us as evening darkened the sky. Given how high above the city we were, I guessed this was a penthouse, though with things growing dark, I couldn’t quite make out where in the city we were.
To my left and ahead was a long living room divided into two areas. The closest was a TV “nook” with three massive couches and several large padded chairs facing the wall where a TV larger than my dining room table was mounted.
The area beyond that was slightly sunken to define the separate space and in the middle was a large open fireplace with a round base and large round uptake and chimney hanging from the ceiling. There were many couches and chairs, most of them positioned to get a view of the fire and the windows. Grey was lying on one of those, his eyes closed while Fen puttered around in the kitchen which was on the other side of the large open area.
I went to Grey but stopped as I rounded the couch and saw… the most massive dog ever, lying there beside Grey on the floor.
The beast was the size of a pony and built for strength, with massive shifting muscles under a tan fur coat. The dog’s ginormous head lifted and turned to look at me. As he moved, there seemed to be strange, shifting after-images, which made it look like he had several heads for a moment, sending a wave of primal fear whispering through me.
But as soon as I saw his face, my fear of the creature fled and my heart melted. Large, brown, literal puppy-dog eyes looked at me, so full of fear and sorrow. It was like he could feel his master’s pain.
