It took everything in my power to leave her last night, but I needed a shower. When I returned, it surprised me to find her still awake. I thought for sure she would be asleep from exhaustion. Being so close to her all night was pure torture. I had to rub one out this morning to avoid blue balls from the stiff cock I had all night.

The guys came back talking to one another like fucking school girls, and Jake took his place back at the computer.

“Well?” I inquired, giving him a look. I despised having to fish for information.

“Oh, she’s awake,” Jake told me. As if I didn’t tell him, I wanted to know the moment she was awake. Sometimes, if you wanted something done right…

I rose from my chair and took the stairs two at a time. Silently listening through the door, I heard nothing. I knocked twice, then let myself in.

Liz had herself propped up with pillows on the bed, in the same clothes she was in this morning, playing on her phone. When she spotted me, she looked back to her screen without speaking. She was still mad that I had left her with Jake.

Instances like these made me question my intelligence for putting up with someone that wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. Liz got under my skin like no one else could.

“Are you going to come out today?” I lashed out. I didn’t intend to be so harsh, but I was losing patience.

“I did this morning,” she said, putting her phone on her belly, her hands crossed over it.

“Are you going to eat dinner?” I hadn’t thought of anything to eat, but I never cooked except for breakfast.

“I planned on it. I’m starving,” Liz whispered, refusing to look at me.

“Okay, I’ll order some burgers. You good with that?” I knew she couldn’t resist a fat juicy burger. Aside from her love of seafood, American cuisine spoke to her the most.

“Yes, please,” she said, finally giving me the time of day. “Sometimes, I think you know me better than myself.” She admitted smiling.

A sly grin teased my face. No truer words. Her smile—it was something I looked forward to seeing every day.

I found myself at the edge of the bed, not realizing I had been walking. I sat down next to her and put my hand on her luscious thigh. “We are going to the office tomorrow.” I paused, waiting for her to recoil or bite back at me for telling her what to do. A slight nod was all I got in return. “I still need you to order pens,” I said, giving her thigh a little squeeze.

She released a long-overdue smirk. “I think you should stay away from pens for a while.”

“Touché. Although, I need them for work. That was my favorite one.” I tapped her thigh and left her room while she wasstill smiling.

Tonk pulled the bags of fresh food from the delivery man and kicked the door closed with the tip of his shoe. The smell of beef and fries soaked through the bag and permeated the room, causing us to act like rabid dogs. Jake tore into his burger before we could even sit down. He could eat food faster than any of us.

Liz sat at the counter with her burger and onion rings, looking as if she was giving her food their last rites. Her milkshake in hand, she dipped her onion ring in the ice-cold chocolate treat and ate it.

Liz had weird food quirks I could never understand. Even after watching her for as long as I have, I still found new things about her, and this was one of them.

Tonk gave her a look of horror. “That’s sacrilegious, you know. You will definitely spend time in hell, and I’ll testify to keep you there.”

“Snitches get stitches, Randall.” She enticed him, giving him a limp chocolate-covered ring. “Let me bring you to the dark side.”

“That’s disgusting.” He leaned away from her, not wanting to partake in her crazy.

I chuckled at the interaction.

I bit into my burger with brisket, and the taste of the smoke filled my mouth, causing my tongue to want to dance. My fries disappeared in nothing flat, and my soda made that annoying slurp, letting you know you were at the end of your cup.

Jake dug through the fridge to find leftovers after he demolished his food.

“I figured if I was going to stay here, you could answer some questions for me,” Liz said.

If Liz thought she would get any more details from them, she was mistaken. They were loyal to me and vice versa—not to her.

Jake struck his head with a loud bang on the fridge and slammed the door closed, rubbing the back of it. “Son of a bitch, that hurt.”
