Occasionally, we would venture for food, but we didn’t last long outside of the room. My kitchen was going to need thorough sanitation when we came back out.
“Tell me about the time when you first saw me.” Her soft voice broke my thoughts of the future and what would become of this. Now that Liz knew everything, it was easier for me to be honest. She was well aware of it all, and I hadn’t scared her away, as I feared. Even though insecurity still remained in the back of my mind that she would leave one day, that something would be too much.
“One night, I was at my club, and I saw you dancing. You had your hair pulled up high and this tiny red dress on. I had to sit and stare at you all night to make sure no one bothered you, even though you were dancing with my bouncers.”
“I remember that night, it was Jason’s birthday. You know, I actually tore that dress that night and had to throw it away,” she said, swirling tiny circles around my chest. “Why did you name it, Adrestia?”
“Adrestia is the Goddess of Vengeance. Her name means ‘she who cannot be escaped.’ I found it fitting with how I felt at the time.”
Her gentle fingers traced my tattoos. “I’m glad you got your vengeance,” her voice cracked with emotion.
“Me too,” I replied.
“I’m glad he suffered.”
My eyebrows shot up, surprised by her admission.
“Let’s not ruin the mood and talk about the dead—” A loud banging at the bedroom door startled me and made her yelp. I sprang from my bed and grabbed the gun sitting on the nightstand—my hand gripping the textured plastic handle.
“Alek, it’s me,” Tonk yelled from the other side.
I swung open the door. The light from the sun was blinding. “What’s going on?”
“You haven’t been answering your phone, and it’s time for you to come to work. Stop banging it out, and let’s go.” I guess everyone surprised me lately. “And put some pants on,” he added.
I looked down, slamming the door in his face. My dick hung flaccid against my thigh, and I didn’t give a shit. I turned to look at Liz. She had propped herself up on her elbow, with her hair spilling over her shoulders. I put my gun back on my stand and climbed on top of her, pinning her hands to the bed. “He’s right, I need to get to work,” I told her, then crushed my lips to hers. Her groans urged me to continue my exploration of her body, but I needed to resist. I crawled off the bed reluctantly and pulled her with me.
“No, I don’t want to get up,” she protested.
“Come, take a shower with me, and I’ll make it worth your while,” I bargained.
With a grin, she broke her hand from my grasp and ran to the bathroom. That was easier than I expected. I hurried behind her to find the cold water running down her body; she didn’t even wait for the temperature to come up. A growl rose from my chest as she looked at me with those heavy, lust-laden eyes. I stepped under the falling water and devoured her like she was my last meal.

Our shower took longer than expected.
Tonk banged on the door a couple more times, but he gave up trying to make us hurry. I was taking my time withmy girl; she was insatiable, and I felt compelled to give in.
I straightened my suit collar and stepped out from the closet to see her dressed and waiting. “You are staying here,” I ordered.
She pouted. “I haven’t been to work in a month, I want to go in.” I should have known better to think she would do what she was told.
“I’m not going into the office,” I told her as I tucked my gun into my waistband.
“Where are we going?” Her eyebrows raised. “Do you really need your gun?”
“Yes, in my line of work, it’s imperative to be armed at all times.” I waited for the next line of questions, which I didn’t think I’d get used to.
She nodded and put her phone in her pocket. “Want to go to lunch later?” she asked, hesitating. “Like a lunch date?” She bit her lip, and I watched the rise and fall of her chest quicken.
I gripped her hips and squeezed. “I’ll do you one better; let’s go on a proper date. Just you and I, no Lucy,” I said as my lips trailed down her neck.
She nodded. “I’d like that.”
“Good,” I said while I pulled her lip from her teeth with my thumb. “Now stop doing that, or we won’t be leaving,” I warned. A sly grin teased the corner of her lips, the kind of grin that warned you she was going to be bad. “Stop it.”
She slipped her hands inside my jacket and teased my sides, “Stop what?”
