Chapter Seven

“What’s up?”I ask as soon as I follow Renzo inside his room.

“Why didn’t you tell me Bryant was gonna be here? Did you invite him?”

“No, but Jayden asked if he could invite a couple people, and he was one of them. Why?”

Zo sits on the edge of his bed. “Because now it’s awkward as fuck to be around my boyfriend and the guy who sucked my dick.”

I snort. “Does Ronan know?”

“He saw us together once, and saw us leave together, so I’m sure he’s assuming something happened.”

“Well, something did happen.”

He makes a face. “Thanks.”

“Y’all will be fine. I doubt Ronan thinks anything is gonna happen. You’re too in love.”

Zo flips me off before lying back on his bed. “Anyway, what other surprises do you have planned for me?”

My guilty conscience comes flying in full force. “What? What do you mean? I don’t have any surprises.”

His brows draw together in confusion. “I’m fucking with you. I just didn’t want any other exes to show up.”

“Oh.” I need to calm down or I’m gonna give it away by accident. I know I need to talk to Zo about this. I don’t feel right sneaking behind his back to hook-up with his sister, but I don’t think it’s the right time to have this conversation.

“Is your dad out of town?” he asks.

“Yeah, he left right after securing this place for me. He’ll be back in a week or so.”

“You know you can come hang out with me and Ronan at our place whenever you get bored.”

“So I can watch y’all being all lovey and shit? I’m not big on being a third wheel, but thanks.”

Renzo tosses a pillow at me. “Stop being a dick. I just know how you feel about being in that big mansion all alone.”

I throw the pillow back. “I know. I appreciate it. I’ll let you know.”

“What happened with that Chelsea chick?”

“We hooked up at Jayden’s party,” I say with a shrug. “I haven’t talked to her since. It’s nothing serious.”

He laughs. “Yeah, I know. You’re never serious about anyone.”

“Did he tell you about the secret passageway?” Trevor asks, barging into the room.

“Secret passageway?” Zo repeats.

“Yeah, him and Vi were locked in some room behind my wall.”

Zo turns and stares at me. “How did that happen?”

I swallow, feeling like he’s about to catch me in some lie, but until now I’ve never felt weird when he’s questioned me about Vi. If this is how I’m gonna feel every time he asks me about his sister, I’m gonna need to tell him sooner rather than later, because I don’t really appreciate sporadic bursts of sweat beading across my head and under my arms.

“We were on the third floor...remember? Anyway, Vi ventured off and found some smaller door that she wanted to open. I followed her into this stairwell and the door closed behind us. We had to walk down the stairs in the dark and ended up in some small room that led to Trev’s wall.”
